Anyone got their hands on one yet? Interested to see how these go, they look the goods. Certainly got to be better than listening to the beep beep beep of the tempo trainer!

I have one on the way. It will be replacing the Finis swimp3 that is fantastic.
I will report back once I get a few swims with the Neptune
I nearly died a few weeks ago from dissonance. The guy next to me had head banger metal on his mp3, the lifeguard kids had all manner of hip hop rap on the stereo and the syncro swimmers had their underwater system blaring The Beatles. Ahh the days when I used to be able to go swim to escape the noise of the world! Here’s hoping my local Neptune adopters can round out the music with a Celine Dion album that would be awesome!
It’s good. It’s much better than the SwiMP3. The menu system ‘just works’, and it’s blind like in the past. It’s simplistic in terms of navigation - sorta circa 1996, but that’s fine. There’s a lot of tiny little mods they made from the SwiMP3 that are appreciated. For example, I like the fact that the play/pause button is big and easy to find when not viewing. There are tiny little arrows (technically Neptune spears) pointing upwards giving newbies a hint it’s supposed to go up. They ditched the USB connector in favor of a fully waterproofed connector. So that does require you using (not losing) their cable, but it should resolve all the past issues with the USB connector corrosion for some people in some pools.
The volume is mind-bogglingly loud (10 lanes away can hear it above water). But once underwater your lane-mate won’t hear it.
I can’t think of much I don’t like about it, beyond being a bit bulkier. Though I didn’t notice it once on my head.
I’ll throw up some photos in a little bit.
awesome work !
seems to be a goer
Here ya go, a small gallery of photos: http://www.dcrainmaker.com/2013/06/neptune-finis-mp3-queue.html
.
Who has the luxury of 10 lanes?
‘My’ old pool in DC had that in SC config on a 50m pool (I think it was something like 15 lanes before you hit the diving area).
I need to move to where my in pool audio can be heard from 20 lanes away.
I would go nuts! Part of why swimming appeals so much is there’s none of the “noise” that’s so omnipresent in this blasted world today. It’s just the water gurgling. Sport for sport’s sake.
Wonder if those so tied to their gadgetry would become even better athletes (or people) if they just put all the stupid toys away & learned to pay attention to the world around them.
You miss an awful lot of beautiful life when you’re staring down at your phone’s screen & have earbuds stuffed in your ears all the time.
Sorry to sound old…I’m just a modern hippie I suppose.
