Finally found how to swim faster

Interval? Threshold? Nahh… just need a croc…

Yeah that’ll do it. Another reason to never swim alone, with a swim partner I don’t have to swim fast, just faster than you!

I am an avid SCUBA diver and have dove with just about every type of of shark, except GW. I’ve hand fed the meanest sharks, including Bull and Tiger. Even hand fed a Barracuda, which freaked me out more than any shark. One animal I will NEVER dive with is an Alligator or Crocodile. I have friends in that dive with them all the time, including feeding them. Those creatures are just too unpredictable for me. If I were in that video, I’d have a million followers thinking I’m Jesus cause I’d ran on top of the water.

Fun Fact, hippos kill more people than crocs… They’ll tip your boat over so they can kill you…

True. I believe they kill about 300 people per year. Absolutely NASTY, aggressive and territorial animals. They’re also sneaky under water and a hell of a lot faster than people think they are, especially in the water. No thanks!!!

Johnny Weissmuller claimed he could swim faster than the crocs in his films, so he had nothing to worry about and these days he would be MOP.

He would???

Assuming you are talking triathlon, I’m pretty sure a guy who can swim head-up 400m freestyle in a 4:57 ( LCM ) wearing a woolen bathing suit would be better than MOP today.

Yeah but he would be 110 now and slower :0)

i thought honey badgers were the honey badgers of the animal kingdom!?!

Hippos aren’t really sneaky… they just sit around in pods under water so people aren’t really aware of them until they’re on top of them if you’re unfamiliar with the stretch of river. Also, I’m not sure they’re very fast in the water; although out of water they are surprisingly fleet of foot. A camp I used to stay in several nights a week whilst working as a bush pilot had a resident hippo who came and grazed on the lawn in the evening. He was called Frank the Tank, and he used to graze about five meters from the dining table. There was an askari who was posted near him with a flash light and whenever old Frank got too close, he’d turn the torch on which was enough to deter him to move away to a darker bit.

Having medivac’d a hunter with the back of his thigh missing after winging a lion, and a guide with a broken pelvis from straying too close to a buffalo, pretty much most of the game out there would be an unpleasant way to meet your end!

Fun fact…I know that about Hippos, thus not a chance in hell I’m getting the water with them. One of my friends has dove with Hippos during rescue training. Thankfully in the US, running into Hippos isn’t really a problem. Another fun fact about diving in the US. You’re most likely to kill yourself in the water then get killed by any type of animal. Not preparing for a dive will get you every single time.

Oh. Mai. Gawd! we go to Boca Paila ALL THE TIME !!! we always swim (with our little DOGGIE!!!) where the laguna hits the sea and have been told that it is safe there from teh crocks. i still think it is, but yikes!

Not in Australia they don’t

Back to tropical North Queensland in a few weeks so will get to swim with the crocs again…
They were about for IM Cairns this year but the organizers apparently asked the local press not to bang on about it…

Bull sharks also a PITA on the Gold Coast… too many yummy tourists snacks…
