Beautiful.

I think I speak for most of us here when I say “I hate you.”

Trying to decide if that should be pink or not…

not me! looks amazing! You worked hard for it I’m sure. Awesome

I have an endless pool too. Mine is different in that I had a pool but it needed replacing. I tore the old one out (40 years old) and the incessant rain we’ve been having this summer (New Zealand) has meant that it’s still just a muddy hole in the ground!

Technically my pool isn’t endless, but the rain sure is!

I wish I had your pool instead! Yours is way cooler than mine will be if/when mine gets finished.

One thing about an endless pool. How do you know when your workout is done. One lap takes FOREVER

awesome.

How much did it cost you all in?? Very nice…

Nicely done…sweet !

Nice

I don’t hate him either but for different reasons: if you swim on your own all the time, you miss many things, such as the camaraderie of your swim buds and also seeing the occasional current or former Olympic Trials (OT) swimmer in the lane next to you. To me, there is absolutely nothing more instructive, and usually beautiful, to watch than a great swimmer just a few feet away from you. You will never see that in your own private pool, unless by chance you know an OT swimmer or two and invite them over. So, to me, the “endless pool” is not of any interest. However, perhaps you will still swim in a real pool occasionally, for the aforementioned potential benefits. Watching and imitating the form of great swimmers is perhaps the fastest way to improve and one can absorb the details much better in person. I remember watching Melvin Stewart swim the 1000 free in a 1992 U. of Tenn. dual meet in 9:10, and this unrested in mid-season, and not even his best event (he was world record holder in 200 fly from 1989-95 for those who weren’t avid swimmers 20 yrs ago). Stewart took only 10 strokes/length of the 25 yd pool. After watching this virtuoso performance, I went to my own swim practice that Sat. afternoon and swam a personal best in the 1000.

  • just watch it on youtube then jump in the endless pool
  • swim buds are overrated… real triathletes don’t have social lives

Are you sure its a lap or would it just be one length.

Wow. Awesome. Enjoy!!

Beautiful job! Would like some feedback on how it’s helped your swim performance?

Jealous! When’s the pool party?

Green with envy.

Very cool, man.

Exactly. +1. LOL.

Got the fastlane from a private party off craigslist for $2,000.00. All brand new still in the shipping boxes with a few extras like the mirror and outdoor cover for the hydraulic pump. Major score, I was ready to plop down over 6K but the wife found it just in time.

Wish I could say the same about the pool.

Thanks all!

It’s gonna take a little getting used to. I noticed I was drifting left or right if I didn’t pay attention. It’s kinda like riding on rollers vs a trainer. Also noticed the less I fought the drift the better it was and I’d eventually be back in the main current. After I put in the mirror it became way easier to stay in the lane. Also noticed that I’m swimming harder on this vs a pool. Maybe because I see myself drifting back, I swim harder to hold my place in the pool. When you slack off in a pool you get no immediate feedback, with this you do. There’s a lot more instant feedback besides slacking off. When you hit a little zone you’ll notice your getting closer to the fastlane.
