Has anyone had one, they are pretty rare aren’t they? I’m having pain in my outside of my right leg, about 1/3 of the way up my Fibula. Only hurts me when running.
Any personal experience with this or info on ways to treat it would be great!!
I know I fought with tibial stress fractures for 5+ years, and have been able to get past that on my left leg now for almost the last 2 years just by putting a metatarsal pad in my left shoe…not sure if there would be a way to fix this problem now in my right leg.
2 years ago i had one on my right leg due to high mileage on hard surfaces. pushed through the pain like an idiot because i had an important race coming up and day after the race couldnt walk or put any weight on my right leg. doctor put me in a boot for 8 weeks after an mri and learned from my mistakes.
So, you “dealt” with a tibial stress fracture for over 5 years and a metatarsal pad helps? I think we missing something. Yes, fibular stress fx are far more uncommon since the fibula bears far less weight.
Left fibular sfx when marathon training for the first time. Lower third.
Like other fractures, treatment involves 6-8 weeks of Not Running. I swam… a LOT. After 4 weeks I could bike; week 5 I got to walk.
There are a couple muscles responsible for foot movements that may be troubling you; maybe it’s not a fx. Peroneus longus + brevis … google… I think those are the names. “Muscles in the lateral lower leg” will do it.
How is your leg feeling? I have a similar pain, right in the middle of my fibula. It hurts to touch the bone and I still can’t run. From what I hear SF, are more common down low by the ankle, so this puzzle me. Wondering if you were diagnosed and how you are dealing with it.
I’ve had fibular stress fractures (as well as calcaneal) on both legs and am now suffering from a tibial stress fracture. In all cases, I’ve taken 6 weeks off to recover. I wonder where my next one will be…
