looking to buy a felt s32 0r s22. should i buy s32 and upgrade wheels or spend extra $1000 on s22?
I have the S32 and like it. Don’t know what the S22 is like. I’m sure this helps you a lot!
Substantial upgrades are on that S22. The S32 is a bit more upright in the OEM kit.
S22 is an out of the box race bike.
Felt S32 or Felt S22. Tough call. Both are fine bikes. I think as far as looks go you can’t beat the S22. The black Felt’s look awesome. As far as spending 1G more for the S22 over the S32, well I don’t know. The S22 has a little bit better components all the way around and maybe a bit better frame with the carbon rear if that helps. The Velomax/ Easton wheels will make good training wheels, but won’t be great race wheels. Depending on how seroius you are about your times and performance in races you will need to get better wheels even with the S22. Having said that you get pretty cool carbon cranks and maybe a better front end on the 22, but I don’t know how much better. The S32 has a list of $1400 and can probably be had for less than that street value, maybe $1200. If you like blue it looks sharp. If you like red, you can still find some S32’s from '05 and you can find those for about $950-$1000. The '05 is a 9 speed though. The '06 S32 is a 10 speed which is cool. If you find some race wheels used for cheaper than list I would see how cheap I could find the S22. If you are going to spend a lot on the wheels than I might get the S32 to keep the price down. Both great bikes. Let us know which one you choose.
I’ve had my S22 for 2 years and I wouldn’t trade it. I looked at alot of bikes and am happy with the route I took. I have just enough carbon with the aero fork, seatpost, and FSA cranks to make me happy. For wheels, training, I.ve got it set up with Ritchey Aero on the front and a Alex Alx/320 onn the rear. it came with a Profile Design carbon X set-up and Shimano ultegra. The only thing I’ve added are a set of race wheels and a X-lab flatwing for my hydration and spare tubes. I think you’d be happy with the S-22. In the end it all comes down to the engine…
I just got a S32 and I think I’ve got alot of bike for the money - I’ll upgrade a couple of things on it but not because I have to. You can’t go wrong with either one. It all comes down to your budget. ( oh Yeh … and a good strong engine doesn’t hurt either) !!!
Bought the s32. looking for race wheels. what’s the difference between flashpoint and zipp?
what’s the difference between flashpoint and zipp?
about $500-$600
My S-22 is an 03" I chose it because the upgrades were noticeable then and the price difference then was only about $400-$500. I’m not an expert but I had my bike at a friends house (who has considerable bike knowledge) for repairs. Once on the work stand he said there was a considerable difference in my S-22 and the S-32. I think the bikes are super hot for the price and with a set of hot wheels they are tops. I can’t wait till I can afford an 07! (maybe in 08?) 3 years of training and racing and not one single problem with the Felt. Go for it.
