After a few month trying to determine which model of IA I want to order, I had myself convinced the IA 10 with Ultegra DI2 was the way to go. I now see that the price for the IA 3 with mechanical DA and integrated front end has been lowered to the same $4999 list price. I have never used DI2. Is it as awesome as it sounds? Is it worth the trade off of the integrated front end, dura ace components and better saddle?
The IA10 with Ui2 is great. I find being able to shift from the extenstions and the base bar very convenient. I’d take Ui2 over dura ace any day. I’m willing to sacrifice weight for the added functionality.
If the IA3 fits you the integrated front end may be marginally faster, but the IA10 front end is more adjustable and may fit you better. The IA10 also has an extra water bottle mount and the mount on the back of the seatpost for accessories that the IA3 lacks.
Saddles are personal so its into a selling point to me. I almost always replace the stock saddle so its not a big plus to me.
I believe the IA 10 also has a lower stack height, if that matters to your fit options.
Thanks for the input. It was an easy decision when the IA 4 was $2000 more than the IA 10. I guess Felt is having to compete with themselves to get rid of the 4’s now, lol. I think I will stick with the original decision of the IA 10. I do like the additional storage option that some have used with modifying a QR or Trek draft box as well.
