I was looking at buying a Felt b16 tri bike. I also looked at the Cervelo p2. Both fit me well. The Felt weighs a pound more than the Cervelo. Does that affect you much as a rider? Any thoughts? I like climbing, will this make a difference?
Thanks!

weight does not matter as much as how aero the frame is for Tri. With that said the P2 is not only lighter in this case but also significantly more aero… both bikes will climb fine, I was in this debate 2 years ago and went with the P2. my two cents.

you must have not done a tri in san diego. most are hilly.
I have a b16 and do not like how high the bull horns are when I hill climb. I even have a -12* stem. Feels like I am hill climbing on a hybrid bike. never ridden p2
Fit & comfort trump all else. If you can afford a proper fit, do it.
I have a B2R and wish I’d bought a guru fit + B16 (or competitor) instead now that I’m racing longer distances.

Do you have all the headset spacers removed from under the stem? Can you post a pic?

yes I do. Not a good pic showing that though…
I guess I really want something like this…
I put a profile design ozero base bar when I had my B16 since it had a nice drop to the horns. Seemed to help as I felt high when in the horns as well.
anyone know the base bars in the picture I posted that I like? or similar…
this one is similar
I own a 2014 B16 and I am happy with it. That said, I’ve never ridden a Cervelo or really any other tri bike to compare it with, but the fit works for me as i have shorter legs and a longer torso. Climbing on it is average. Obviously not as good as my road bike geometry, and that is probably the general take with *most *triathlon bikes, IMHO.
I have mine outfitted with Profile Design 58mm/78mm and it is a pretty fast ride. I will be upgrading the front end very soon to go full carbon and getting a lower cup stance to flatten out my back even more.
Good luck!
That’s an old Oval bar that was a made to order $1500 behemoth.
There are many options for a deep drop base bar from HED, Deda, Profile, Vision, Zipp etc.
Of course you could install a road drop bar as well if you want ~120-150mm of drop.

i seen the vision bars going for under 100$ not bad… my concern is can the aero bars go wide enough. I am going to go to some fixed gear bike shops to see if they got some low drop bull horns today.
Side question, I have a 2013 felt b16 with ultegra, my wife 2014 with 105… her bike feels like a brick mine is size 58 her size 48. Is the gear set that much of a difference in weight? Cant fathom even with size difference my bike feels lighter
Yea, that FSA crankset is as heavy as a brick.
No, there isn’t that much of a weight difference in the Ultegra 2013 parts and the 2014 105 parts, there are only 2 Ultegra components on the 2013 bike.

I just bought a 2014 B14 and I love everything about that bike.
Any thoughts from anybody w.r.t. the shift cabling, and it being difficult/tight? My wife has a 2010 B-16, and a lady in our tri group just bought a new 201 B-16 2 weeks ago. They both exhibited very tight shift cabing; to the extent that both had to be returned to lube, then completely replace/reroute the affected cabling.
Going to buy these bars… “Road Drop Bars” 390mm and have them drilled to take the cables. They are so light

“They are so light” and “have them drilled” don’t sound like they belong together.
I also noticed the clamp diameters do not seem compatible with any stem I’ve encoutered for threadless forks.
Moreover if the tubing diameter is truly the “road” 23.8mm size, then how could the clamp diameter be 22.2? Do they really swage the diameter down? A 31.8mm or 26.0mm diameter is more likely or perhaps 25.4mm but 22.2 seems impossibly small.
Availability: In Stock
SKU: 11160 - Silver
11161 - Black
Width: 390mm
Tubing Dia.: 23.8mm
Clamp Dia.: 22.2mm
Good luck.

had guy measure it with tool came out to 25mm. perhaps they are giving internal size?

I’d avoid these base bars.
They will not fit the stem or clip-on aerobars.
