Felt B12 -How do I make it UCI legal?

I just got dq’d for a TT in Banff Alberta as my saddle was 2 cm too far forward. Its a cobb saddle all the way back. I’ve tried an Adamo and it’s still ~ 1 cm too far forward. Is this bike not builld to be UCI compliant? If not, I have a brand new B12 for sale in a 54!

I got my 54 cm B16 UCI legal with Adamo road saddle. There´s still some 2-3 cm on rails left and nose of the saddle is 5 cm behind bb.

Thanks. How tall are you? I used an old demo Adamo but couln’t get it far back enough… Maybe I’ll try again with a newer model.

Do you have the seat clamp in the front or rear position?

Martman: I´m 180 cm or 5ft 10".

You can buy a 35mm offset seatpost from Felt.

I don’t know anything about this. Can’t you file for a morphological exception?

When did they check your saddle? Was it after you completed the course? Aren’t they supposed to check prior to you starting?

They said they were measuring Cat 1-3 and visual only for Cat 4 immediately before the start. They measured us all. Its my own fault for not knowing it wasn’t 5 cm. I knew it would be close. Going after the Cat 4 guy with a DQ…sheesh.
I salvaged the race a little with the Cat 3/4 road race today. (1st Cat 4, 4th for Cat 3/4 combined).
Still grumpy about the DQ for overall GC though.

I never even thought of this. Would I go with the 1.1 or the 3.1 model? Expensive though, considering I may never get measured again.
Alberta is the only place I’ve ever seen bikes measured other than national championship events.
Alberta cycling association was brutal to deal with for many participants.
Thanks for this.

Marty,

There are two different seatposts available for our TT/Tri frames. The slack or more relaxed saddle position required by the UCI is not favored amongst most consumers. We do offer the “rear offset” seatpost if your events require that you abide by UCI rules.

Most consumers don’t need to be concerned with UCI rules. Bikes like the B12 (and F1 and F2) aren’t necessarily sold with the UCI rules in mind but we take steps to ensure that those that want to compete in those events can do so. The frame platforms we’ve developed for Triathlon are indeed designed to be UCI compliant for time trials but that usage represents a very small percentage of the bikes sold.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks Dave,
Aren’t there 2 options for ‘rear offset’? Which one to get?

You’ll need the one that fits in your frame. There are 3 rear offset seatposts offered for the different frame designs.

What model year is your B12?

It’s a 2011.

It’s a 2011.

Felt’s part number is FESP-05, that’ll get you the rear-offset post that fits your frame.
