They are available for Run and Bike, but not for Walk. I like walking home from work once in a while 
EDIT: Any routes saved for Run and even Bike should be available for Walk. Why can’t they be the same list? I see that the route type specified when the route is created dictates that list of available routes for a workout, but it would be nice to not have to save it again as a walking route.
