Favorite Heart Rate Monitor

(duplicate post from the Tri-Talk Forums)

Soooooooooooo…

I woke up from my nap this morning, 18 hours before my first race of the year (13.1), to find that my 4 month old Pit Bull had snacked on my Garmin 305. Cracked the screen, whole 9 yards. It’s over with. I need a new HRM.

I’m pretty accustomed to the pace/distance feature and wouldn’t want a watch without GPS. I’ve always been intrigued by the 310. It’d be cool have a HRM that could be used during the swim. I don’t have a power meter, but see that as the inevitable next step in technology I’ll make. Life has a funny way of forcing decision/investments on you before you’re ready for them.

In any case, what say the masses? What kind of HRM should I get? Another 305? Make the jump to a 310? Go with another manufacturer?

garmin fr60 with foot pod.

it wont be long before you ditch the hr monitor for the run and use the foot pod exclusively.

310XT, it’s the best device I’ve used for multiple reasons. One of best traits is that it is completely customizable for your needs/desires. It’s awesome!
