I would like to shed the chest strap on my next purchase.
Probably the Garmin 935. But still not ready for prime time. Just get a Scosche Rhythm24 or Rhythm+ and don’t look back.
Got a 935 a few weeks ago. I love it so far, so much better that previous 910 and 920.

Probably the Garmin 935. But still not ready for prime time. Where have you encountered problems with it. I have had no issues at all - I love it.

Second hand… I have a 735XT, which is OK. It struggles with cadence lock and detecting high HR. The 935 has a slightly improved HR sensor. My running & biking buddy has a 935. It has all the same symptoms for him as my 735XT. Like me, he uses a Scosche for HR, because the watch’s built-in isn’t trustworthy in everyday (and especially race day) life.
I have a MIO link optical HR. You can use the wrist band, but I like that you can pop out the HR module. I place it on my quad under my cycling or tri shorts and it works great. You could probably place it under the sleeve of a sleeved trisuit.
I have a 935. The optical hr sensor is simply not reliable enough to be used. I have had to use my chest strap still. It reads c20bpm too low
935 is a stellar multisport and everday watch. The wrist based HR is great for day to day, resting HR etc. but just doesn’t cut it for me during training. Always use a chest strap still.

This. Works well outside of works outs. While working out it still gives me crazy readings even with it tight against my wrist.
I’m loving my fenix
.
I have the Suunto Spartan Trainer wrist HR watch - not the most hyped watch, but I will say that the HR is deadly accurate and tracks my TickX strap perfectly when I wear both of them.
Only problem with this watch, as far as I’m concerned, in battery life - wouldn’t last a full IM distance race, but it has been great for me and does everything and more than I would want a multisport watch to do.
Just to add to this - I couldn’t agree more. I upgraded from a Suunto Ambit 2 to a Forerunner 935 a few weeks ago. Went to Garmin so I could use ANT for everything rather than a mix of BT and ANT.
The 935 is light years ahead of the Ambit 2 in terms of what it delivers on a daily basis, but I found myself very quickly putting my hand back in my pocket for the HRM-TRI because the reliability for running just wasn’t there. As an experiment I used my Edge 520 with the HRM-TRI for the same run as the 935 (amateur DC Rainmaker here) and the 935 wrist readings lagged behind the strap and read both over and under at various points.
Some friends who are runners have the newer Suuntos and love them but I suppose whether you’re a BT or ANT user will play into it heavily.
