Thinking of getting the Favero assioma. Currently use Shimano pedals. For the people using the Shimano system of the FA how’s it working out?
Here’s an earlier thread with some feedback. https://forum.slowtwitch.com/...ano_Pedals_P7555808/
Also check out DCRainmaker’s review if you haven’t.
I bought mine from Chain Reaction and love them. Would buy again. Using the various efficiency measures to refine my technique and will be building my race plan with power targets as I have a tendency to overbike in halves and full distance races.
On par with the original Assioma DUO for features/data/reliability. There’s no getting around the wider q-factor with the DUOShi. It can’t be negated by just moving cleats either (SPD-SL don’t have a lot of lateral adjustment). I love SPD-SL cleats/pedals but not enough to accept a bike fit change to my road bike(s) just to use SPD-SL cleats with the Assioma.
I bought them based on what DCRaimaker said about the Q-factor. I figured it was a non-issue as I MTB and I could always move the cleats to compensate. After a few rides I agreed w/ Shane and sent them back. I was getting knee and hip issues. It was a bit of a pain since I had to return them to Italy (U.S.), and they were very slow getting back to me.
Personally I would not recommend.
I should quantify that I am short 5’6". I think for taller riders, like Ray, it’s probably a non-issue. A friend of mine is 6’3" and has no issues.
Unfortunately the Qfactor is killer for the shimanos. The look assioma have an extremely minor qfactor adjustment which is no big deal, but the shimano will definitely mess with your fit. Unless your fit specifically needs a wider qfactor, I would not recommend them.

This is the crux of it. Pushing the SPD-SL peal body away from the pod was an engineering issue they didn’t solve and passed off to the end user. They’ll work for some, but not for all. The MTB/spin bike q-factor is wider argument is valid. Millions of people do ride those wider stance bikes without issue. Having to adjust to an alternate bike fit (and reduced cornering clearance) on a road bike just to use a particular cleat type is a compromise I won’t make. It’d be a similar scenario if SRM made meters only for 175mm cranks.
Favero have hinted in public they’re working on an official SPD (MTB cleat) version of their meter. I hope this means they’re redesigning their pod/pedal tech so we don’t have to modify our shoes to clear the pod like we do now with the SPD hack. The next step from there could be a new SPD-SL compatible pedal with a more standard width (53-55mm).
Bringing this thread back up. Waiting on some unexpected cash and basically I can get the duo-shi or I can get the original uno and convert to Look. I’d have to buy and extra set of pedals if converting to Look and settle for one sided. What are everyone’s height that were able to adjust for the q-factor? I’m 5’9†and wear Sidi mega because of some serious duck feet so I was thinking the extra q-factor might actually help.
If that can help, I bought the DUO Shi for my 5’4 ‘’ 110 lbs daughter ( she rides approx 15 000 km’s/yr). After one ride where she fiddled with the new fit (she had Assioma Looks but had to change due to sponsorship ) she now rides without any noticeable changes.
*Remember that the conversion is not compatible with Dura Ace 9100 pedals.

I’m 5’10" and I haven’t had any issues. I don’t even notice
