Fastest running shoes - Adidas Adios Boost?

So it seems just about all of the fastest marathons have been run in these shoes. Anyone tried them out?

Did kimetto wear the boosts? I haven’t really checked. I know there was some backlash among elites who generally preferred the traditional adios.

The boosts are ok. Traditional version is better I think but sadly discontinued. Felt more reaponsive. Heard it might come back

Anyway adidas just sponsors the best marathoners. The shoes aren’t making them fast

Kimetto and E. Mutai were wearing adios boost 2. Yes the only modification was two strips of rubber instead of DSP.

G. Mutai was also wearing adios boost in NYC but it was the first version with different upper.

Hope this helps.

I have never ran in them, but my experiences with running in brooks pure drifts is that they are awesome shoes through 10k (light and fast). They work well enough in a HM, but I’ll have sore calfs for a couple days. I would not want to try 26 racing miles in them. The boosts look like they are a similar build and would be a great choice if you are 130 pounds (in the off season). I’m over 150, so for the long stuff, I want more cushion.

Adios has like a 9mm offset compared to 4 for the pure series so calf soreness might not be an issue. It’s a lot “more shoe” than most flats

Definitely! But two things:
A lot of reviews say that the boosts ‘ride like a low drop shoe’…whatever that means.
I otherwise run marathons (or more) in pure flows or grits, which are also 4mm. With those, I do not get the bad calfs.

Love them. Tried newtons and sauconys but never felt comfortable. These feel awesome

I trained for and raced a marathon in the last year. My marathon was by no means fast but I really liked the shoes. I tried running in them this summer and the toe box felt too narrow, so I switched back to Brooks. That being said, they’re solid shoes.

Great racing shoe.
I usually don’t buy into cushioning gimmicks but there truly is something special about the boost material.

They are good, really good. I like the boost foam. The Adios II is a much nicer upper than the original.

Not the Boost, but have both the Adios and Adios 2. Love love love them…

Boost material is TPU and is the real deal. If you ever get a phone case made out of TPU you can tell the performance difference immediately. It both absorbs and rebounds in a cool way, without ever breaking down.

I’m probably 800 miles into a pair of Adidas Boost shoes and the midsole is as wonderful as the day I bought them while the material around the rest of the shoe is starting to come apart. I could see Adidas quit making them because the shoes last too long.

I’m going to buy a pair today. Does anyone here have any experience with Adidas Takumi Ren and Takumi Sen? These have been my go to shoes for the past two years…Japanese designed and most of my North American friends have not heard of them…but they are sublime for me. The only reason I’ve been reluctant to try Boost is that these shoes have been so good to me. Not sure if Adidas would put boost in the takumi line…not much shoe for padding even in the heavier takumi ren versions I use for training.

Have the Pure Drifts been discountinued? I love those shoes but sadly, can’t find them anymore in Brook’s website and haven’t seen any new models being announced/teased/launched. I also like the Pure Connects and plan on running Chicago in them but the Drifts are my goto shoes for almost everything else.

Guess I might have to start looking for a replacement :frowning:

I have heard that they are consolidating the drift with the connect. That is unfortunate. The connects are too narrow for me.

The fastest shoe in the world is going to be the model that sponsors pay to have the fastest runners run in.

Most comfortable doesn’t equal fastest…

I’ve been racing all season in them. Excellent shoe with a lot of snap on the toe off–not mushy like the softer Hoka style shoes. The orange is a nice color…just wish they had a 100% seamless upper though. Used them for 10K, 5K, Ironman, oly, du’s, half ironman…really an all rounder & you won’t need another pair of shoes but this for long/short course.

They only made the drifts at the beginning of the pure series cycle. Been discontinued for about two years. Could get lucky checking with local running shops to see if they have some laying around…my store still has 6-8 left that I’m sure nobody knows about or considers.

That comment is expected as skora shoes are some of the slowest on the market.
