FasCat Training

Has anyone used the FasCat coaching/training app? Any thoughts on it? I couldn’t find any recent posts mentioning FasCat but their lifetime membership seems intriguing. They seem to have a lot more focus on cycling, not as much tri specific. Mostly looking for training plans (not active coaching) and integration with Garmin/Zwift - the workouts should just show up on my watch/Zwift.

I have used TriDot in the past and it was effective, just got a bit repetitive for me after a while. It also has issues getting the workouts onto Zwift. Sounds like FasCat has that integration working and I could use different plans throughout the year.

Hey there,
I haven’t tried FasCat, but I have used Athletica.ai for over 2 years now and will never ever go back to any other platform.
Why? Having a background in Sports Sciences (I am a coach as well), I’ve tried several of the newer AI driven training platforms, and they all seem to lack the solid sports science that Athletica is built upon (Founder is world renown exercise physiologist Professor Paul Laursen), and other platforms like Tridot or Humango training programs are not balanced but have way too much Tempo, Threshold and Hard workouts per week. One of the weeks with Humango had only one Z2 workout out of 13 sessions. Why? Because their programs are not built upon sports science. If you ask me, that’s asking for injuries, illness and overtraining.

Sorry I went on a bit of a rant there.

Anyways, what I wanted to say is Athletica pushes your workouts into your Garmin - and Zwift workouts are a Two Step process. https://youtu.be/pzSNkRdxNDg?si=FGuTXgt0v9AHJl-3

Don’t use it, but having looked at fascat before I believe they are another advocate of healthy doses of sweetpot, which is either good or bad depending where you sit.

I’ve just started using Trainerday after ten years on Trainerroad. It’s 3.99 USD a month and perfect if you want to self coach. Calendar syncs to Garmin and/or Trainingpeaks, and then if you link TP to Zwift it shows up under custom workouts. Much easier than dragging and dropping files. Although no triathlon plans it’s pretty easy to pick the type of cycling plan you know works for you and then build swim and run around that.

After 3 years with Trainer road for casual old farts cycling (ie just trying to finish events), i just started with fascat. - i really like certain components of Trainer road however i dont agree with their lack of longer rides when prepping for a longer cycling event (used it for a 5 day stage last year where in set up i indicated i’d be riding 6 hours a day for 5 days - longest prep ride i got was 2 hrs). I really like their FTP calculation and find it pretty darn accurate compared to field testing. So far so good with FasCat - a lot of similarities with TR however i really like their daily score optimize based on integration with Oura or whoop data…time will tell whether or not i prefer one over the other - right now i am paying for both due to liking different elements of both!!! Oh and fascat does not have a desktop version though they say one is coming

Thanks! Checking out the trial on Athletica.

Found a trial for FasCat, seems like it really only has the bike workouts automated. The run workouts (and swim) are just typed up instructions.
