Farsightedness (reading glasses) Solution

I would not have posted this until I saw this thread:
“Aging and nose hairs: what’s your solution ?”
There are 3 pages already on that thread!

In any case, I am over 50 and have worn contact lenses and glasses for near-sightedness (means you can’t see far) since I was 13. I am pretty damned blind w/o them.
But I’ve dealt with that for all of these years.
As I hit late 40’s and in to the 50’s, holy cow, far-sightedness became a thing. Unable to read up close. Far-sightedness is age related and you can’t do a thing about it except wear reading glasses.
It is such a liability. I can’t read magazines or work on the computer without readers on. Working on my bike or tying a fishing lure? Borderline impossible without readers. At the pool where I swim, the locker room is dimly lit and trying to undo the combo lock after a hard workout is challenging to say the least (esp as I don’t carry readers around).

Not to be an infomercial but there are new eye drops called Vuity. I recently saw an ad for them on TV; got a prescription for them from the eye doc.
Holy cow, they actually work!
I’ve been using them for about 1 week and I don’t need readers for the computer any more.
It is seriously game-changing. Just 1 drop in each eye!
They don’t affect my near-sightedness while wearing contacts or glasses either. Overall vision is vastly improved.

They do wear off after about 8 hours but it’s amazing. The only side effects: eyes are blood shot for about 1 hour and you can’t put contacts in for 10 mins. And $100 per bottle which looks like will last 1 month.

Just sharing with the Slowtwitch crew as triathlon tends to skew toward older demographics who started this crazy sport in the early eighties.

And I just bought a bigger bike computer. I keep looking for Garmin rumors of a 2030 Plus.

Same here.
The 1030+ should work for me for a few years. But I’m gonna need something the size of a laptop after I hit 60.

The natural/logical follow-up is: “What do you wear while manscaping?”
.

Been doing mono-vision on my contacts and glasses for years. It’s great. Left eye for reading, right for distance. I never think about it and the mind does it automagically. .

I just went the HGH route. Worked well for me. /JK

I know this isn’t the tagline they want, but the Karoo is really great for us old, vision impaired folks!
