Faris won Frankfurt wearing a speedo in a 52 oF temperature

I knew Faris like his speedo but it was quite unusual to see this in a 52 oF and rainy day
The day was very cold for July in Germany and it rained most of the day, several dnf were shivering when they dropped

Close race for the women with 5 ladies in 4 minutes

look what spectators are wearing, it was cold!

Faris without his speedo would be like…
Faris without his beard or…
Faris without his ponytail or …
Faris not sticking a waterbottle in the back of his speedo during the bike.

The warmth from the beard should balance out the chill from the speedo.

Before you wonder, the beard also keeps the sun off his face in warm weather races so he stays cooler in the heat.

It isn’t unusual for him to win or wear a speedo… :o)
Spectators = standing & watching.
Faris = racing & winning.
I see the difference in clothing as acceptable.

Is that thing padded?

when you can run and bike as fast as the pros, your body creates a TON of waste heat. I think I did the math earlier but say he is doing 300 watts on the bike, that is about 700 watts of waste heat, or 7 standard 100 watt bulbs of heat generated from within. toasty!

Is that thing padded?

He has a thick beard down there too…all the padding he needs
.

Post of the week, albeit highly frightening

Cameron brown wore sleeves and Caroline Steffen wore a jersey + sleeves

One word… SHRINKAGE!

It doesn’t matter what he wears, it only matters what he does. He is awesome

I see it more as a style thing. If the coverage of a tri short provided much extra warmth wouldn’t we see a lot more speedos at hot races?

He told me he was a kind of “underdressed”. Several pros and agegroupers DNF due the cold conditions. Steffen was cramping right from start of the run.

Faris, right after crossing the finihsline:

classic george… when our first child was born I had this episode on DVD and my wife was laughing so hard she told me to turn it off since she had just had an emergency c-section the day before

His seat is too high

That makes perfect sense to me. I get hot when I’m going hard (that’s what she said), and I’m not going nearly as hard or fast as he is, so I can see a speedo in that temperature.

so he will look naked if I go slow ?

I was impressed by the way he sorted out the lack of bottle cages on his bike by sticking a bottle down the back of his speedos.

What is the green band on their arms during the run?
