Famous Tuscon rides or Sierra Vista, Arizona riding, swimming, and reputable bike fitters

I will be in Seirra Vista, AZ on business in the first week of February. Any knowledge on the forum about good places to ride, swim, any cool endurance training opportunities during that week or the first two weekends, and also a reputable bike fitter where I can tweak my fit?

thanks

Enjoy your time at Fort Huachuca.

I don’t know the area personally, but I suspect your best bet is to head up to Tucson
and visit TriSports. About 1.5 hours each way.

guess I need to do some of those infamous training camp rides in Tuscon I’ve been hearing about.

There are a lot of good rides from SV. You can head over to bisbee, out toward hereford. I can get that info from someone I know there who rides there lots.

Let me know when you are there. SV is part of my territory (was there yesterday in fact). I can bring my bike and join up after I finish my day.

As for running or swimming can’t help at all.

I live in Sierra Vista. For swimming there is the Cove. There are morning, afternoon and evening open lap swim times. There is also the pool on base that is open pretty much most of the day. I can give you directions to the Cove and exact hours if you’d like.

For biking, pick a direction and go. What do you want, two hour ride with plenty of hills, then head to Tombstone on Charleston. That’s about 2 hours, or you can tack on another hour from Tombstone by heading to Mustang Corners and back to SV on 90. Plenty of options. Let me know when you get here and I can take you out, or give you a route depending on the time you want to spend riding.

A few of us from work get together and do a Sunday morning once in a while. If you want, you are welcome but sometimes we have some slow riders and take it easy for them.

Cool, I’ll shoot you a note. Looks like I’ll spend the first weekend in Tuscon before heading down to SV, do Mount Lemmon, run on some cool trails, and hopefully swim somewhere.

As for riding, what time does the sun rise and set? I think I’ll be doing most of my riding in the early mornings.

thanks,
Eric

directions and hours of the cove would be nice… I can see how far it is from the hotel.

For rides, that would be great if we could ride! I think most of my available time to ride will be in the early mornings, so a 2 hr climbing route close to central SV would be best. Is it safe riding in the darker hours there?

You can get out on your bike fairly safe by about 7:10am right now. I’d be comfortable riding earlier with a light system.

I’ll hit the trails running before first light though.

What Brian said about riding, 0700 in Feb. although I’m not much for riding in the dark or cold if I know it will be nice later on. If you want to go far a ride in the afternoon/early evening, I’m in. The weather is too nice that time of year in the afternoon to ride cold. We are at a little higher alt than Tucson and the mornings are a little cooler. For a run, it’s not bad and all the nice rides are out of town, there is NOTHING between here and there once you get out of town, I’m just not that brave to ride that way in the dark. If you are going to be on Ft Huachuca, out the west gate on the back side is a nice and hilly ride, something to look into.

Pm me if you want to get together while your here and I can get a few guys together and go out for a ride.
