Fair price for ultegra shifters @ LBS

I was at my LBS yesterday and bought a repair stand. At the same time I asked about a set of ultegra 9sp shifters. They were hard to come by this summer and I’m looking to upgrade. He checked for availability and checked the price list, pondered a bit and said $250. Is this an average price for them? I buy most all items and have all repairs done at the LBS, but they’re $160 at Colorado Cyclist. Is it possible he looked at the wrong price? I don’t like to walk into a store ask a price and leave, so I don’t know if this is fair at other LBS’s.

I figured while buying the stand, which I could have gotten cheaper else where, I’d ask and maybe get a slight discount. This seems a bit excessive. I don’t want to, but I can get ultegra shifters, front and rear derailleurs for less than $250 from Colorado.

I’m not taking a shot at LBS’s, I don’t know what a fair price is and maybe for him $250 is what it has to be or maybe he checked to wrong number. Can anyone give me a ballpark? thanks
