Went to review my splits last night and my garmin 310xt beeped quickly and apparently did some weird software reset…effectively deleting ALL of my race. I cannot see any history now except 1 lap at 6:59am for 1:11…apparently my swim->T1 is here somewhere. It’s not recognizing that there is any data to be transferred now. Thoughts? Solutions? Please, STers, no snarky remarks. I’m already brokenhearted enough already. This dang thing has worked for EVERY SINGLE training workout JUST perfectly…sniff sniff.
Ought Oh… Sounds like it did a software upgrade in which case your data on the watch can be deleted. When patches are available, it is best to cancel the loading of the patch, load your training, then load the patch, often you will have to re enter your personal settings, but you can resend your course etc back to your watch.
I just applied the latest patch over the weekend and had to do this as well
Does it show up in the workout history, but just doesn’t transfer? IF so, try selecting the option of “Transfer All” and it will attempt to re-send your entire workout history saved on the device. After that call Garmin, I’ve had a few issues and for the most part I was able to work through them with their customer service. Good luck!
Are you running the latest firmware? There is a bug with the most recent 3.7 firmware that is causing many (including myself) to have problems getting data transfered cleanly to Garmin Connect. However don’t panic, as the data is probably just stuck in the “pending uploads” directory in your computer. On my XP system, it’s in your AppData\GARMIN\Garmin Connect\pending uploads folder (NOTE: doing that from memory - will check when I get home tonight). I was able to log into Garmin Connect and do a manual upload of the data in that folder.
I had the same experience too. Previous firmware upgrades were different in that they did not erase anything. The last one effectively resets the watch to “new” state. You will have to re-enter all your info, redo the pairing with powermeter, cadense sensor, etc.
Your data is most likely gone forever but do try to look a the local folder to see if it transferred before the update and there is nothing to lose by contacting garmin.
I feel your pain.
Same thing happened to me at IMCDA this year. During the race it worked fine. Swim time, Bike pace/distance, run pace/distance, etc.
Finished the race, looked down and it said something like multi-distance = 141ish miles.
Got home, started uploading the 310xt to PC. No Marathon. I said what the hell, went into the history…no run data at all. The new multi-distance said something 114 miles instead of the 141.

Much appreciated.

Make sure the ant+ is enabled, sometimes it turns itself off and wont transfer data.
My Garmin 310XT only randomly downloads my activities - sometimes its the bike and sometimes the run but it seems to intermittently miss some downloads. I’ve tried everything listed here but to no avail.
I’m doing IMC next week and would really like to record it.
