F1 COTA Who you got?

Its probably Verstappen again based on what ive seen the last 2 days.
If Norris or Russel can run a clean race, they have a shot

I’m beginning to think Oscar should be the number one driver over Lando

I hope you got a good look at the Lando- Verstappen battle. It sounded epic. The Ferraris were on another level. It is interesting that when Norris got past Verstappen he gained 4 seconds in a very short number of laps… too bad he could not have pull 2 more seconds. Verstappen is an amazing driver and to pass him was never going to be easy, he showed that in spades I am sure.

I was working Turn 13. I had line of site of “the pass”.
Max was giving as good as he was getting.
If Lando got penalized for that pass, Max should have been penalized for a pass at my turn earlier.

Yeah, I saw a replay, and it looked to me like Max pushed Lando wide and that caused him to exceed the park limit… but what do I know. If he had gotten past Max a few laps earlier it would have been more than enough time to take the 5 second penalty. I guess that is racing neither seem too upset over it. It must have been really cool to watch the action in person!

I’ve been to a handful of GPs, and, minus the sound (which was unreal in the V10 and V8 eras and I understand not so good these days…the sound of that shrieking V8 in the Ardennes forest…OMFG, still gives me goosebumps), it’s honestly a better TV sport. The cameras and telemetry are SO good that it’s hard to approach that in person.

Awesome! Good experience again?

Bottas’s car was on fire 10’ in front of me. I made international television. I’m kind of a big deal :sunglasses:

The marshal crew is awesome. We start our day around 5:30 AM. Are on our feet almost continuously until 6 PM and everyone stays positive.

I did have another marshal tell me he hates me because we got to extinguish an F1 fire. It was all in good fun, especially since Bottas was OK and his car was back on track in time for qualifying.

That does sound awesome and I can see why other marshals would be very very jealous of you!!

That is super cool.

My son, his boyfriend, and my nieces are all big F1 fans. They got together this weekend in the Bay Area and went to an old movie theater that was showing the race live. They had a blast. Today I was in the Denver airport on my way to Toronto and saw lots of people with F1 fan gear on. They were clearly coming from the race.

It is great to see America embrace the sport.

That is so cool!
Back in 2004 I had the chance to either be in Monaco for the GP or Cannes for the film festival. My friends and I didn’t really know much about F1 back then so we picked Cannes. I have come to really regret that decision.

The trifecta of motor sport:
Indy 500
24 Hours of LeMans
Monaco

I’d love to see any of those races.
There’s a slim chance I could marshal LeMans. No chance at Monaco or Indy.

Monaco is crap now, and has been for years. As a spectacle, sure I bet it’s amazing, but for the sport it’s a dull parade. I know they call it the Triple Crown and include Monaco in that, but meh. As an F1 fan there are far better race tracks on the calendar.

I agree, its a parade.

I was happy to see actual passing this weekend.

Races I want to marshal: Silverstone (marshals treated like :poop: but I’ve heard its a good event otherwise), Mexico City (marshals fed tequila after race and some pass out on track), and Spa (just sounds like a cool race).
Ill be at Vegas again. Hope to see Sainz avoid valve covers and pull off a win. I’m planning on Miami next year just to check it off the list. Hope to be by the “marina”
