Extra tall saddles? (i.e. rail to saddle top distance)

Hi Everyone,

Saddles vary in their rail to saddle top distance, and I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for ones that are especially tall?

I haven’t posted in a while, but I am building up a track pursuit bike (TT bike for the track), I am a very tall cyclist (6’6" with 39in inseam) and there are basically no track bikes that fit me properly. I settled on a Specialized Langster Pro (which utilizes the older Venge seatpost). The minimum insert is at 260mm, the seatpost length is 590mm, and my ideal fit is 905mm with 175mm cranks. That means I’ll need about 5.5cm of height added to the top in the form of saddle (possible more with more forward TT position).

Thanks in advance for the recommendations!

Tallest I know is Cobb gen2, 65mm from rail center to saddle top.

I can’t imagine choosing a sub-optimal saddle just to get a little extra height. Is a taller seatpost really not an option?

Dash saddles look really tall, I’m not sure if they are but man do they look tall.

I just measured my Dash Stage (Basic). It’s ~5.5cm from top to rail center (the top is slanted relative to the rails, so that’s a ballpark based upon where I sit on it…Potsie).

I forgot to reply and say thank you to everyone with their suggestions. Always much appreciated.

I got it to work with a Tri2 saddle on the 61cm Specialized Langster Pro. Initial impressions of the bike are favorable in both mass-start and pursuit position. In case it is useful for anyone searching this thread, the older venge seatpost used for the Specialized Langster Pro is 260mm from min insert to the saddle rail height, not the top of the seatpost.

Old (circa 1999) specialized saddles are insanely tall, a good inch taller than modern models.
