Experience with tibialis posterior pain or pulls?

I have been battling heel pain and a tightness near the upper achilles tendon insertion site for three weeks now and have possible explanations such as achilles tendonitis and plantar fasciitis, though i have had plantar fasciitis before and insist that this feels different. The other day i came across tibilias posterior in my trigger point therapy book and noticed that it inserts at the heel, the bottom of the foot and the side of the foot all of which i have had pain in over the past 3 weeks. I have been to a massage therapist several times and an acupuncturist for ongoing treatment. GP and ortho thought plantar fasciitis as well. Still waiting to get into a physiotherapist.

I wondered if anyone else had difficulty with this muscle or its attachments, what their treatments consisted of and experience with their recovery time. Apparently difficulties with this muscle is commonly mistaken for plantar fasciitis.

Still hoping to participate in IMC, though feeling more defeated as time goes by.

Any tips and good news stories would be appreciated. I found running on it was unbearable and have stopped that for a week now and biking was mildly irritating, so have stopped that for this week as well. My training has been pool only for this week. including water running, fly - to keep up cardio -, and water cycling.

The posterior tibial does not insert on the heel - main insertion point is the plantar-medial navicular (with extensions/slips more distal to the cuneiforms as well). Main muscle for inversion and helps support the arch in close kinetic chain motion. A tight PT muscle is often a compounding factor in heel pain syndrome (i.e. “plantar fasciitis” diagnosis) though and should definitely be worked over if you have a tp massage kit.
