I’ve read some uncomplimentary reviews regarding dealing with Colnago; however I recently had a warranty issue my Colnago E1 and Colnago-America was absolutely exceptional, exceeding my expectations.
My E1 (purchased as new old stock) showed signs of stress cracks in the clear coat and one that could be a crack in the carbon on the left and right side of the seat tube. I took some pictures, sent them to Colnago-America and followed up with a phone call a week later. On my follow-up I spoke with Shane, he knew who I was, my warranty issue and that as soon as I sent the frame back, they would ship out their brand new CX-1 as a replacement. Told him what size and color I was looking for and it’s now in route to m LBS.
We’re not in Veltec country anymore.
Earlier in the year I ordered a Argon18 that I to warranty/return as soon as it arrived. It had dimples in the carbon, drips in the paint, and more. Simply it was shotty workmanship on this one. Moreover, I had do back flips to have them issue an R/A number and send me a refund.
Now I have this beautiful new Colnago CX-1 in route to me and I already have it on the auction block. With my spare out of commission and feeling that the season is coming to a quickly, I bought a new EPS from LBS.
So if you or someone you know is looking for a brand new Colnago CX-1 in a size 58, due to arrive in the next day or two, let me know. Offers welcome.

Thanks… I could ask my LBS if they would do swap
What is the best way to get a hold of you. I might have someone that is interested.

Hi Rob…I can reached at wcgllc@gmail.com. Thanks.
Careful what you wish for…they sent me a 54. Sent you a PM with the price if you’re interested. You can’t get closer to cost.
Great bike. I have had a really good season with mine. However, the paint chips way too easily for such a high end frame. Love the geometry though. I can ride mine up, down, fast twitch or longish ride. My go to bike but has to be waxed and covered in the chain stays
I had a completely different experience. Going from a number of different frames sets, I felt the CX1 to be numb, lacking in power and twitchy. At one point I stopped, got off the bike and looked to see the if my brake was rubbing. In fact, the person I sold it too also had the same experience and mentioned the same, “feels like the brake is rubbing constantly…” In the end, I sold it, bought a Fondriest TF2, then my buyer sold the CX1 and bought my TF2, I’m now on a BMC. We both felt the Fondriest is 110% better across the board. Still smacking myself for selling the TF2.
Important note: Unless Colnago has changed their front der hanger or provided an adapter, the CX1 won’t work with standard size ROTOR rings.
Brake rub…yes have this experience as well. The rear brake is super sensitive to the amount and curve of the rear housing. Cause I cut mine too short and I am too lazy to take it into the shop I do have to break out the 15 wrench and 5mm and adjust this every other ride. Remedy would be to just get a new better loop housing in the rear
I too own a BMC SLT01 and in my opinion the CX-1 is not dull YMMV. If one constant is between the 2 different bikes neither is twitchy. They are both point and shoot. However, since the BMC is taller(more upright) bending/leaning into a corner is more problematic. I can really lean into the CX-1, can pull it up a sharp decent, and never ever have to worry when descending up to 55mph
Rotor crank did not work for me either. Did not try to install on BMC for fear of messing up my crank rotation which I worked real hard on last winter. Not impressed with Rotor cranks
