I enjoy Hawaiian pizza. Ham, pineapple and jalapeno is a delicious combo. Sweet, heat, and meat. The ratio needs to be right though.

That’s how our wife describes me.

Then you need to be considering something else for that plot of land.

Hawaiian pizza is actually regular cheese and tomato sauce pizza, just cooked at… aloha temperature*

But yeah, I’m with you re: Hawaiian pizza - bacon instead of or combined with the ham definitely improves it.

*I may - or may not - have submitted this “joke” via text to the Disney World Monsters Inc Laugh Factory ride while waiting in line, and they read it out during the show. I also may - or may not - have specified my age as 12 years old when I submitted it.
My daughters and nieces were amused, anyway.

We do a lot of home made family pizza nights. My kids love help making the dough, helping me slide the pizzas in the scorching hot kamado etc. I’m definitely going to try this combo next time.

My personal favourite is pancetta, sauteed mushroom, caramelized onions and mozzarella on Neapolitan style crust. No sauce, just a drizzle of olive oil.

I just opened my photos and searched “pizza” and lo and behold. Ham (might have been pancetta), pineapple and jalapeno.

Im going to rename this one the @Rick_pcfl

You can name it after me, but you have to share some with me. That really looks good!

I’ve got a large Big Green Egg and a pizza stone but have never made one on the BGE. I think it is time to change that.

It’s amazing on the BGE or similar. Get that stone ripping hot and let it heat soak for like half an hour. I think we cook ours around 750F, and I check it after 3 minutes. It might need a half turn and another minute at that point. There’s a ton of good tutorials on YouTube for Neapolitan dough to get you started.

Thanks. I will be looking those up. I’ll be sure to post photos of my ruined pizza so everyone can laugh at me.

Let the dough get to room temp first! But @BCtriguy1 has it right after that.

It’s easier than you think. Also gotta get the right cheese, low-moisture.

My coworker brought his OONI over over last month and we did a big pool/pizza party for the kids. It was a lot of fun and pizza came out great. But if using a stone, get that summabich hawt!

Definitely post up pics after. We should have a separate homemade pizza thread with pics. :pizza:

I think I started with the Brian lagerstrom Neapolitan dough recipe. Not a true Neapolitan for purists but it’s super easy to follow, no knead, make a few days before and let it cold ferment in the fridge for a day or two for Max flavour. As yeeper said, bring it out of the fridge a couple hours before using. I think he uses the Ooni oven in the video, too.

Chef Sean Brock opened a pizza place here and they do 72 hour aged dough. I usually am very picky about the dough and might eat a couple of bites of dough (and then eat the top off). This dough is fantastic - kind of chewy and sourdoughish (but Neopolitan style).

They do a smoked mushroom pizza that is out of this world.

Thanks for starting the pizza thread. It’s funny how the bagel thread morphed into a pizza discussion.

Count me in for Hawaiian pizza! For me it’s ham, pineapple and bacon. I don’t like jalapenos on pizza as it tends to overpower the other toppings. If I go with peppers, it’s the yellow peppers.

That looks really good. The smoked cheese with mushrooms sounds so good.

I’d be interested to hear if anyone here has a good sheet pan or Sicilian style dough recipe. For those times you just want a greasy, crunchy, square sliced pepperoni.

One fucking post before this shit appeared

A pizza discussion was started elsewhere, and Ironclm started this thread and moved most of the conversation over, starting with mine. Just FYI.

This is acceptable

Okay

But i still don’t think Hawaiian pizza should be consumed

I don’t understand the Hawaiian pizza haters. I seems to come up every time. It’s like an irrational trigger for some people. If you don’t like it, don’t eat it.
