Full disclosure, I am Canadian. This was a big deal to me. I was 13 in 1988. Ben Johnson was Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan. HUGE. We didn’t like Carl Lewis, because he was cocky and got beat and whined. But he (even with a negative test) never said he did it. Athlete of the Century I believe.
Similar to the present drug situation, I don’t think there will ever be an admittance of wrongdoing. However, they did tie it in very nicely about the HGH and braces analogy, followed by Carl lambasting someone about drug use while wearing braces.
Essentially, the public doesn’t care. Even with the whole thing with the US sprinter from Carl’s group in the testing room and years later saying he may or may not have put stuff in Ben’s beer (I know - he doped and thrown out rightfully), it’s all sketchy.
The one question I do have - why wasn’t Lewis DQ’d for multiple lane violations during that race? THAT was legit…infringed on Christie for sure!

A really proud momment to be Canadian and then next day, bam, all taken away. I remember it well.
Oh my goodness…planned our month around that race, screaming and yelling. You knew you watch history. The limit of human potential. Beat the big loudmouth American (sorry but that’s how 33 million people saw it 
).
Then, it was over. Not as serious, but more like Princess Diana passing than Tiger’s wife bashing his window out with a 9 iron. Amazing couple days.
