Is your buddy Victor Plata racing.
He seems to love the tri-life. Race any and all weekends.
I’ll be there and on that note can anyone speak to the difficulty of the bike course? Tricalifornia has a funny way of creating bike profiles. They vary the scale at the bottom so some hills look really tough but turn out to be quite a bit easier when you standardize the chart. Take a look at the Wildflower Short Course bike profile if you don’t believe me. Not to mention the fact that they’re hard to see since the profiles are very small images included on the course map.
You know I’ll be there with my usual Mad Dogs buddies. In addition we have quite a few folks from NC coming out this year.
What’s this about a new boat? No Hornblower? Bummer…
See Ya’ in a couple of weeks.
Joel
No Vic this year, at least as of now. The last Olympic qualifier is the following weekend.

Well, that would depend where you are from and what kind of rider you are.
Mile by mile details here:
http://ggtc.org/alcatraz_bike.php
Most of the climbs are about 8%, with a couple of them around 10-12% (guestimate). Lots of curves and turns and 1,000 people on a 9 mile out and back.

Thanks for the link.
My wife Marcee and I are both gonna give it a try, we’re just hoping that we can survive the cold water!
I won’t be there but congratulations on your race last weekend… It was fun following the runup to the race on your site
good job
I’ll be there! I rode the course last Sunday, very technical. Pretty much always up, down, braking or turning. I see why a lot of people say use the road bike!
Bumping this up.
I have:
DC
Joel S.
Goodtime (Tom) & Marcee
Danielito
Anyone else?
And, for the above, if you are sticking around after the race (later that afternoon), give me a shout via PM.

Still kind of chapped that they wouldn’t takes me money(a lot of it at that) so maybe next year. Good luck every one. Aloha G
I’ll be heading that way Thursday, coming from Springfield MO.

I just looked at the weather forecast and they are calling for a windy weekend. Could be a rough day in the Bay.

Sign me up too. My son and cousins are doing the relay. Look for the Franke Family’s Escape From Alcatraz Polo shirts.
Can I beat the young turks by myself? Sure, if one of you gives my nephew a few flats.
Well, Heather Gollnick will be there. She was out at my club this afternoon. Not a bad lookin’ QR she was riding.
She doesn’t look bad either, but don’t tell my lady I said that!
I’m flying over from Japan for the race, arriving Friday morning and depart again on Wednesday morning.
It would be nice to meet some of the people I only know of from this board.
