Ergo levers and flat top bars - thumbs down

Anyone else think that the way campy ergo levers mesh with “flat top” road bars leaves something to be desired? It seems like the shape of the lever body leaves a significant lip to the bar. I balanced it out a little bit by wrapping some bar tape strips under the bar tape - but its still lame. I was excited to try them after setting up some DA on the flat top bars…but it seems campy just doesn’t work as well.

Never tried it with Campy. Is there any issues with shifting? I have tried it with Shimano before and it did work pretty well. BTW, in the most recent issue of Triathlete mag, there is a photo of Peter Reid getting is position tweaked in Colorado. I was surprised to see his aerobars setup with DA STI shifters. Until a couple of years ago, he rode Campy. Maybe he has the same issues. A very similar setup to how Nina Kraft was riding last year. I believe it was on this site that the discussion about doing this came up and it was said to be unsafe. It never seemed any more unsafe than standard road bars with STI shifter and clip on Aerobars to me, but then again, I’m no expert.
