any of you use this for recovery and how often?
share any experience or recipe you may use.
read some pretty amazing benefits from the use and thought that it had to be a recovery tool for some.

I’ll use an epsom salt bath occasionally when I have soreness in my lower back and shoulders that doesn’t seem to go away after a few days of recovery. For the most part I try to avoid ice baths, compression and NSAID’s in order to maximize my body’s ability to deal with and adapt to fatigue and training. (much like Jordan Rapp’s article suggests).
I usually follow the directions on the bag (1 cup per gallon?)
I find that Epsom salt baths “feel” nice, but I don’t really feel like they do anything for me otherwise. I use them generally after a hard race if I feel the need for a restful soak.
Can’t find it now, but recently read and article where some studies showed, that like much everything else in triathlons, its placebo.

Same. Although I normally get impatient after about 5 minutes of just sitting there and am normally out within 10.
I’ve used them off and on. I don’t know if they work and I, too, have seen both the believers and non-believers.
It could be the salts. Or it could be the hot soak. But I do feel better after.
I suspect, though, a hot soak in cool-aid or Fun Dip might also have the same impact.
Kool Aid, Fun Dip, and how about a few Pop Rocks or Fizzies for some bubbles?
Please send photos.

If my recovery protocol included Kool Aid, Fun Dip, and Pop Rocks, I might enjoy it more. I’ll keep you posted.
I have been for about the last two years. I get the lavender scented salts. Also per my dermatologist recommendation, I add a quarter cup/60 cc’s of bleach. Has practically cut out all saddle sores. I soak once a week, twice during the hot summer months, for about ten minutes.
CC
I do them about once a week after a long run or ride. I just eyeball whatever looks right into the bath - probably 1/2 to 3/4 cup?
Epsom salt is magnesium, which has all sorts of health benefits, especially when absorbed through the skin.
Just want to check the protocol we’re using is the same?
Finish race. Run a hot bath with lots of bubble bathYou take some epsom salts and throw it over your left shoulderThen you put the bath foam on your chin and pretend your Santa Claus

I thought it was:
Finish race.Moisten hand and apply epsom salt.Slam tequila.Suck lime.Repeat.Keeps you regular and any post-race pain disappears pretty quickly.
