So, I am always seeing advertisements for EPO Boost and Optygen and now I am curious to know if they actually work. If you are taking either of the products I am curious to hear if you have seen results?
Also, are there side affects from either supplement?
I posted a similar response in another thread - but here’s a re-hash:
For me - Optygen HP has been a good supplement. I started using it 15 months ago and cycle on/off every 3-4 months. My data (powermeter) tells me it works to the tune of 2-4% (8-15 watts). Small gains - sure - but big enough to quantify. Some may argue just a placebo effect, but my gains have repeated themselves enough for me to sink $50 a month on it. I know 5+ people that personally swear by it and a handful that don’t. I have only had a slight occasional tingle in my fingers when I first start on it - no other side effects. Just remember YMMV.
FWIW - I am probably one of the biggest skeptics you’ll ever meet. I can’t believe the sh_t people waste money on and question just about every claim out there, but HP has my vote.
I use EPO Boost and I believe it works. I have been using it for at least a year and have made gains in my training, race times and general fatigue levels. I have had no side effects at all.
I have been using EPO Boost for 1 year, and have seen amazing results. My times are down across the board (swim, bike and run). I can train longer and harder. I have been doing Triathlons since 2008, with success. But when I started EPO Boost, My success turned into unbelievable results! I could’nt believe how well I was doing. I truely feel this product works for me. I am off to Kona HI in 5 weeks for Ironman Worlds, again.
Wow mfyoung71 and p2tri, can you please tell me more about how amazing EPO Boost is?
The ONLY posts from ‘both’ of you are to endorse this product (p2tri just register today to dig up this thread), no one can read the writing on the wall with that one. Nice work bringing down the piss poor perception anyone had of EPO Boost to begin with.
I can’t speak to EPO Boost, but if nothing else, the name freaks me out. I’d rather not tell people I take something legal that’s got the name of something illegal in it.
OptygenHP, on the other hand, I was skeptical, but a guy at my LBS suggested it and said he’d yet to see a triathlete not continue to use it. I figured it would hardly make a difference, but about 3 weeks into it, I went through a cycle of workouts that was almost identical to one I’d done earlier in the season. Specifically, it was an indoor trainer workout that made it pretty clear to me what was going on. I was doing 10 minute intervals of race-level HR and power. I didn’t notice a big difference in my perceived effort until I hit the recovery period. Normally I would do 5 minutes of a real easy spin, getting the HR back down into a zone 2 area. Previously this left me absolutely dying, gasping for air until about 4:30 into the 5:00 recovery interval, but after OptygenHP, I was bored out of my mind, ready to start the next interval after about a minute and a half.
This was the best example I can give with numbers, but I’ve noticed similar things running and swimming as well. While my actual performance didn’t immediately increase, my ability to recover between intervals has, which has led to longer term gains.
Now, I know a lot of the gains have been from better overall fitness of March/April vs. June/July/August, but my improvement over the course of a season has never been this drastic. It might still be placebo effect, but I’m willing to pay for that, just like we all know that shaving one’s legs doesn’t really help anything, but it feels like it does.
I’ve been a user of EPO Boost for over a year now. I race at the Pro1 level in cycling and this product works. Period. I can sustain more watts for a longer period of time and my training hasn’t changed much. I know many of you will say “your body adapted to training” or “you became more fit as time went on through training”. I agree to an extent but the HARD NUMBERS that I put out on the power meter don’t lie…and you don’t get these numbers in the short amount of time just by training.
The people on here that are putting the product down and saying negative things about it…have you tried it? If not, try a bottle…you will be in shock if you take it correctly. I am NOT getting paid to say this nor am I any part of the company. I’m a pleased consumer that supports this product and has great results after taking it.
