Epic Diet, week of 4/18

i’m just going to do a thread a week now.

going strong as ever.
b’fast = oatmeal + toast + coffee = 400 cal
lunch = garlic szechwan soup + light salad = 400 cal
dinner = big grilled swordfish steak w/slowman-made mango pico de gallo (diced mango, jalapeno, tomato, garlic, onion, cilanto) + curried eggplant = 1000 calories
after dinner, VERY small snifter of grand marnier = 200 cal

2200 total

this is usually fairly easy now. i wrote an article about the week, it’s on slowtwitch. i’ve relaxed my time frame, and i’m going to keep this to a 2 lb/wk weight loss limit, so that i don’t lose lean mass.

feel very good, no metabolic highs and lows, no drowsy afternoons, it’s good all the way around.

Hi Dan, just curious as to why you don’t include three small snacks in between heavy on the protein to increase metabolic digestion and calorie burning? I know you’re a busy guy, which could be why…good luck!

Ok, so we will all at least check in who are in this game. It is like weightwatchers for Slowtwitchers. The peer support is key also I get some good food ideas.

174 this a.m. a blip up but to be expected. still down 4-10 lbs from April 11. May 15 is next race and date to hit goal of 170.

I am gravitating to natural foods instead of processed foods… unless of course it is a PowerBar.

~You should try Clif Bars, they are all natural foods and certified Organic into the bargain!

After last nights weigh in i feel like sharing my progress, although i have been on this for a month or so.

End March 101.0 kg

Current 96.6 kg

I have been training much more purposfully since i found out i have got into the GB AG team for the world long dist champs, i am also biking to work. The key seems to have been that as both my wife and I have good canteens at work, we have stopped cooking in the evening, so i just have a bowl of cereal (rolled oats with granola type stuff on top). Seems to be helping, although i think i may have been dehydrated last night…

Julian,

where do you buy your cliff bars? I’m oop north in Edinburgh … haven’t seen them around here. Love those things!

cheers,

David

I’m still in, baby.

And I agree with cervelodude … small protein-rich snacks between meals are important, at least for me. They keep the ol’ metabolism going, and keep hunger at bay.

Yesterday:

Oatmeal, apple
1 oz almonds
Huge salad with tuna
Cheese stick
Turkey sandwich on ww bread, cucumber
Water, lots

Today:

2 hard-boiled eggs, banana

I’m still in, though I sense I’m talking and replying to myself here. That’s okay, 'cause I amuse the hell out of myself.

This morning I could feel a loosening in my pants.

To finish yesterday:

1 oz almonds
1 cup chicken salad, lots of fruit
Cheese stick
2 chicken breasts, cucumber, broccoli

Today:

Oatmeal, banana
1/2 PB& J sandwich
Big veggie salad, tuna

yesterday:

B–2 eggs, whole grain multi grain muffin with PB&J

L-chicken w/brown rice

D-big salad with crumbled up cheese, drizzled ranch, 3 bites of a grilled beef kabob

a pint glass of light beer (Coor’s light)

Today so far:

B-protein shake

snack-ramekin of cottage cheese
.

Coors light? I’m dissapointed with you Kittycat. I have gotten used to thinking of you as a person with discriminating tastes in matters of drink. But Coors light? Please say it isn’t so…

it’s true and it’s a damn shame. my tax bill was so tremendous that it wiped out nearly all of my cash flow. in short, I’m in the poor house and hardly have a spare dime for the moment.

for cheap beer, Coor’s light is as low as I can take it. I hope to be out of this rut soon. Tomorrow night I’m hoping my husband will treat me to a frothy pub poured Old Speckled Hen.

I’ve been in that rut myself, and I have even gone lower even than Coors on the beer food chain. I’m glad to hear that you have been working off of your Plan B and not your normal operating procedures…

I’ll have a Guiness for you tonight and curse the tax man while I’m at it.

yes, please do have one for me. and i think the tax man is buying his girlfriend some nice jewlery with my money…damn the bastard.
