Endless Pools and other swim spas - reviews?

I am thinking of getting an Endless Pool, Hydropool swim spa or other type swim spa. Does anyone have one of these or another brand and have feedback? I live in Northern VT and this would be an above ground, outdoor set up. I would have a lean-to type structure around it with plexiglass type roof, but open on all sides. Temps here do go below 0 degrees F at times in the winter. I swim in the lakes May-November/December so the swim spa would be for winter months only. In my area, I think these are the only two models that are sold at dealers close to me and I think these are the only two that have local techs available for servicing. It’s hard to find unbiased reviews on the internet so any feedback is appreciated. thanks

If you contact EP they would address you to a nearby EP owner for a test swim. The owner will be eager to let you test her/his pool, because if you’ll decide to buy one, she/he’ll earn $500

We purchased the performance model from EP after trying several other swim spas. In my experience the current on other swim spa models doesn’t come close to the EP fastlane/swim current. The swim current on most spa models is produced by multiple jets vs the EP which produces a much smoother consistent current. I would definitely test several before purchasing, many stores have floor models with water that they will let you try out and as the prior post indicated EP will set you up with someone who will let you test theirs. It was a bit odd swimming in the middle of the store with people watching but well worth it. As far as outside, ours is in our garage and we use it year round, just open the garage door on nice days and in the summer and swim at the lake for our long open water swims on Sunday’s. EP was very good to work with during the ordering and design process and answered all our questions and helped with the best options.

Yep, this is correct, we’ve had several people test out our EP. Had it for 6 years and love it. We’re in southern New Hampshire.

Where in Southern NH?

Is your pool set up inside or outside? Do you use it in winter? Have you had any maintenance or other issues?

I just bought an Endless pool. I’m going to start posting my training and the training I’m going to do with athletes in it. I don’t have anything up yet, but you’ll be able to find it on Instagram at Swim Easy Speed.

If you have any questions before I start posting, please let me know.

Tim

It’s inside so we use it year round. No issues, maintenance has been straightforward. Add a little bleach after each swim, change the filter regularly, replace the water every year or two, etc.

I’m dreaming about it! Thanks for review!

Somehow I missed this thread. Did you order your pool yet? Where are you located (feel free to PM me if you’d rather not disclose your exact location or want to talk more about the pools, swimming in vt, etc)

We are in Northern Vermont too (between Stowe and Craftbury). And we just put in an order the first week of January for a High Performance Endless Pool. Very excited. It won’t be ready until this coming September due to the pandemic demand. We are going to build a small addition off our walkout basement. We are off-the-grid but our system is beefy and will support the pool.

If you are going to put it outside you might consider the propane heater.

Maybe you know Charlotte and Paula from Stowe masters? They swim in the Green River Reservoir in November and I think Dec. too. I’ll get into the open water in May wearing my thermal wetsuit and gear. I’m not built for the cold

hi - thanks for replying. I am in the NEK near Lake Willoughby (my summer/fall pool). I was able to swim outside in the lakes from May 3 - December 4th this year (minus a few days skipped when it was too cold). I am in a full, 5mm thick wetsuit for the first and last few weeks. My indoor pool options have been closed so hence the interest in an endless pool. Haven’t ordered the endless pool yet. I have to wait til Spring for a backyard consult and have to put in a concrete pad. I plan to have a structure with a roof around it (maybe enclosed like a greenhouse but not heated). I think I can get extra insulation in an EP. The company I talked to is scheduling for 2022 now! What company did you order from? I know of Charlotte and Paula, but haven’t met them. I do the Kingdom Swim in the summer which they are involved in as well.

Oh Lake Willoughby is so beautiful!

We ordered directly from Endless Pools. We did have a guy from Allen Pools and Spas which is an EP dealer from Williston come up and look at our property. But they only sell the swim spas which I’m sure are good pools. We decided we wanted the High Performance pool since my triathlon coach just got that model and absolutely loves it. She highly recommended it for us. We will have to hirer an installer as I have learned it’s quite a big project.

I talked to the guy from Allen Pools and will have them do a backyard consult. If I get one, it seems easier to order from them and have them do the install. I probably will get the 15 foot swimsport model because of price and size. The high performance ones must be more expensive. I wish I could swim in the lakes year round, but they are frozen now and it gets pretty rough when the air temps go below 30. I am hoping that when I am ready to order an EP, I won’t have to wait too long to get it installed. Not being able to swim since early December has been tough and I have to wait until at least April to get back in the lake.

The Performance/High Performance pools are modular and come in pieces. The pieces can fit inside w/o needing huge doors like garage doors. (good for people putting them inside the house)This is different from the Swim Spa pools where they arrive as a fully assembled pool. If we were going to put the pool outside or in a barn (like my husband originally wanted) we might have done the Swim Spa. Both are good pools and both expensive. I don’t think the Performance modular pools are that much more than the Swim Spas. It adds up when you make the pool bigger or deeper, add a $2K cover, mirrors, etc. I do think it’s an amazing investment esp for those of us in very cold climates.

Kind of wishing I would have done more research and gotten an Endless Pool after looking at their website and some other reviews and feedback.

I ended up getting a Coast Spas Wellness spa. A 17’x8’ (I think?) swim spa that doubles as a hot tub. Wife never uses it as a hot tub so it’s largely a swim spa for me. What I’ve found with the jets is that to set the jets at the front high enough for me to NOT swim to the front of the spa, the jets are REALLY blasting you in the face and trust me, I’m NO expert swimmer; in triathlon, I’m barely a middle-of-the-pack swimmer.

So I end up training with the tether on my chest, which isn’t terrible, but it’s not that close to the real thing. I get in some solid work, get the arms moving, work my swim muscles, but I definitely have to marry that training with training in a lap pool at the nearby gym and obviously getting out in open water when possible.

Mine is outside and I also struggle with keeping the water at a temp that I want. The heat settings are a little funky and for the desert (I live in Vegas, it gets hot!) it’s challenging to keep it where I want it.

It works, but if I had it to do over again, from doing a lot more looking around, I would probably get something like an Endless Pool.

how much did that end up costing you for the performance?

$30,000.

does that include the step ladder or no?
