Endless Pool Owners

Does anyone have reliable conversion figures for PSI to yards / second? Thanks.

Doesn’t work that way. Used to work at EP, now at Infinite Pools (www.infinitepools.com) psi. is different on each pool. It’s unfortunately not a science like the speedometer. Endless has a computer that gives a VERY rough measurement and I mean rough but it’s a guide. The science to this is not there yet but we, Infinite Pools are working on a very accurate guide.

We all have our opinions on the speed and if you Pm I’ll give you some more info.

OK, I’ve been wondering about this–Could I swim the other medley strokes (butterfly, back, breast) in the Infinite/Endless pools?

Do you know the time difference between swimming straight and simming in laps in a pool with turns? DOes a flip turn speed you up or slow you down? i.e. is a 1:30/100m in the pool translate to a 1:30/100m open water or is the turn faster or slower than straight swimming?

How much did your endless pool cost? their website wont tell me…its a secret!

EP sells for $18,900

Infinite sells for $19,400 with FREE Shipping

Infinite is a much better pool. We use an 18" stainless propeller with a larger flow head. It produces a stronger current, deeper and wider, and we offer 3 HP levels up to a 7.5 for Triathletes and strong swimmers.

We also powder coat our panels so they don’t rust, include perimeter decking at no charge and the Infinite Pool is backed with a 20 year warranty, not a 10 like EP. Our Triathlon Package comes with an underwater mirror, camera, and $100.00 coupon for Xterra Wetsuits.

And for those who don’t want to put together their own pool, we offer factory installation. We also offer financing packages that begin at only $149 per month with Zero down if you qualify.

We offer a Triathlon Package and discount incentives to the Triathlon Community and if anyone is interested in receiving information, call 866.447.7946 and tell them you saw this post on Slowtwitch.com or you can call me directly at 800.421.2918. We are affiliated with John Cobb who helped design our propeller, Lee Zohlman, Paul Fabish, Xterra Wetsuits, and other Triathlon organizations. The owner is an Ironman Triathlete and the west coast salesman, Dan Hulse is an accomplished triathlete and used to work at Aquasphere. Me, I’m just a lousy swimmer who used to own a great tri shop!

Thanks, Sharad, for all the info. I’m very happy with my Endless Pool, but your Infinite Pool sounds great as well. Any 40+ guy like me contemplating a mid-life crisis Harley should get one of these pools instead. Of course, with 2 kids, I’ve got a better chance of getting my own lane at the Y than in my own basement. Que sera sera.

Lap swimming is definitely faster. As proof, look at the difference in the world records between short course (25m pool) and long course (50m pool). The push off from the wall more than makes up for the momentary stop in forward motion.

For example, the current world record for the 1500m freestyle is by Grant Hackett and the times are:

25m pool: 14’10"

50m pool: 14’34"

Time are slower for the long course for events.

Is it possible to make your own “infinite” pool? I’ll just never have the money to buy your product.

Could I build a pool in my basement and then, what type of pump would I have to put in that?

Just wondering if it’s at all feasible.

thanks

Good luck. If you are successful I would love to hear about it

hmmm from endless pools web site “How much will it cost?
The standard Endless Pool system, which includes everything you will need to start swimming, costs $18,900. This kit includes a complete pool with steel walls and liner, the fully adjustable current and return system, and all of the automatic machinery to keep the water filtered and heated. Financing is available to those who qualify. Ask us for details at 800-732-8660. In addition to the pool equipment costs, you should also budget for installation costs (two reasonably handy persons need a few days for the standard pool), electrical hookup, a plumber, and a carpenter for finish carpentry.”

Your product sounds good. Wish I could try it and wish it were more affordable.

One question: how is it that John Cobb is especially qualified to design your (water) propeller? I mean, is he an elite swimmer, a hydrodynamic engineer, or what?

Does anyone know if it’s possible to install one of these propeller / flowhead systems into an existing inground pool? Now that would be a great product, economical and adaptable for most users.

I think you, sir, have a great new product idea.

Go to it.

“Infinite is a much better pool.”

i am not familiar personally with infinite pools. however…

I live in an extremely demanding environment. My endless pool is outside, overlooking a cliff. It is now in its third year.

Though my house’s roof has blown off twice during that time, but the Endless Pool has not had one hiccup.

The Endless Pool does not rust, has not rusted. The outside panels are rust free, the inside panels, benches, hardware are stainless steel and so can’t rust. The Endless Pool customer service people are absolutely, consistently, among the most helpful, knowledgeable, available, of any I’ve ever met in any industry. They are the model for how customer service ought to be done in the bike business, frankly.

As to all the rest, Endless Pools invented the Endless Pool. Infinite Pool is a copy of the Endless Pool. Now, the question is, is it a better copy, or a lesser copy. Folks can argue that. But I remember a variety of bike and wetsuit companies that thought they made a better invention than my invention, and those companies are at the bottom of the ocean today, financially speaking. 20 year warranties aren’t worth very much if the company is not around to service the warranty, and I think it’s reasonable to point out that IP hasn’t yet demonstrated longevity as a company.

So with all due respect to the folks at Infinite Pools, you’ve got to earn your chops before you can claim, “Infinite is a much better pool.”

Unfortunately, no. Both EP and IP use our benches to move the water and a controlled way. I do know that EP is working or has one that can be added to a standard pool. Don’t know much about it but if it works, it could be a great tool for those with traditional pools.

Ot, I know, but when can we see your aerobars?

Dan, you know I work for Infinite Pools and my statements were based on my knowledge of having now worked for both companies. Do I believe the product is better, YES! Do I think Endless makes a bad product, NO. I think the Endless Pool is an excellent counter current pool and tell people to look closely at both EP and IP. In the end, I believe ours is better.

Being one of the few people that has swam in both, the Infinite Pool current is stronger, wider, deeper and is much quieter. We offer 3 levels of motors with the 7.5 HP really suits for strong swimmers. I’m a hack swimmer and tried to keep up with the 7.5 HP and couldn’t. For most people, the 5 HP is fine, 6 is better and 7.5 is just plain fast!

I would invite you to do a review on both pools as I asked you when I came to Infinite and let you make an honest review of the Infinite Pool. If you are interested, let me know. Infinite Pools would be happy to advertise on your website, support the sport and increase our exposure in the Triathlon community.

Should, and the key word should have samples in my hands by the 10th of Feb. If not, I’m going to go nuts!!!

Yep. Plenty of room. Both pools are standard 7’ X 14’ interiors and both have plenty of room to do all strokes.

I’m 6’5" and can swim in a standard pool without ever coming near the sides or the back of the pool.
