I am trying to refurbish my endless pool. I read where Dan Empfield, a few years back, admitted using a high grade non-foaming regular hydraulic fluid. Did this work? Are you still using it? Thanks for the information.

Isn’t the bio-based oil that endless pools uses something like $100 for 5 gallons? I’d sure hate to ever expose the pool liner or myself for that matter to conventional hydraulic fluid if there ever was a tiny leak.

It is more of a time issue, and I’ve had my pool closed down for 4-5 years. I have flown from Portland to Arkansas and need to get the job done quickly.

There should be someone reasonably local that can provide the proper bio-fluid. Any of the earth movers used in and around wetlands and other protected environments are normally required to use the appropriate spec product.

Thanks for the tip. I will check around. But does anyone know the answer to my original question, did the regular fluid work in Dan Empfield’s pool?
Why don’t you ask Dan?
no reason you can’t use regular hydraulic fluid. i did. nothing bad happened. however, i had no leak. if i had a leak, well, i doubt if anything bad would happen, but i can’t say. best to ask endless pools. they’re very responsive to tech questions.
the bio fluid, i don’t know that there’s anything tricky there. when you have endless pools on the phone, ask them what would happen if you just put 5gal of canola oil in there. you might be surprised at the answer.
I think any vegetable oil will work. Ask Keith at EP customer service.
Thanks for the answer to my question. I called the local stores here in Arkansas seeking biodegradable fluid and got very little help. They were not sure what I meant. I will be contacting Endless pools Monday when they open up to ask them about it.
will do. Thanks
“(The fluid is either Mobil EAL 224-H, or Fuchs Plantohyd 40N).” http://bit.ly/13el5oi

Thanks for the information. I am getting the Mobil EAL 224H from a local bulk oil dealer tomorrow.
