Elevation Profiles

Does anyone know if elevation profiles (or anything of the likes) exist for local roads?

Not an elevation profile, but you might try www.sueandpaul.com/gmapPedometer which allows you to create distance maps for any location. My thought is that you might try contacting the folks at that site for elevation info.

Another thought is town/city/county maps on file with zoning boards, etc.

Yeah, I use their site a lot, but I want to know what the hill profiles are. I was thinking that my only option may be topos and I’m too lazy to go to that much effort.

Use a Polar s625x heart rate monitor (or any other similar computer with an elevation feature), run the course, upload the data to your computer, and create your own!

For $350, I’ll stick with ignorance. If it looks hard, then it must be so.

the Garmin Forerunner 201 does elevation as well, but not as well as the Polar.

Im wondering if someone (probably not someone on this site) cant hack into Google Earth and write a program reads every point along a path you create and turns the elevation at every point into an elevation profile. Thatd be sweet.

I think Delorme Topo Software can be had for about $70-80, it ortta do what you’re looking for.

Cool - thanks.
