Electronic shifting for 2011 Felt B14 Bike

@cdw do you have photos of your P2C with Di2? I have a 2010 P2 that I’d like to “upgrade” but am leery about drilling the frame. I also already find the shifter cable routing through the downtube to be a pain in the ars so can’t imagine it’s easy getting a flimsy Di2 wire through.

I am not familiar with SRAM stuff…can I use my existing Shimano 105 crankset and cassette if I move to a SRAM etap 11 speed setup?

When upgrading to 11sp Sram etap you can keep the 11s crankset. But the 11s Red components will be hard to find and more expensive than their Force 12s counterparts so you might want to think about going 12s immediately. You will have to use 12s compatible chainrings, some small brands might be able to make chainrings for 12s that fit an 11s crankset.

Hi everyone,

I’m still rocking a 2011 Felt B14 and I love this bike. I also tried electronic shifting and love that too. So, I’m reaching out to the ST brain trust for advice on retrofitting electronic shifting to this bike, e.g., is it possible and, if so, any recommendations on brand/model, and how difficult will this be?

I’ve looked around online and become quickly confused on what exactly would be needed. The wireless route seems more appealing if it can be done.

Thanks, as always!

Can you even get electronic shifting without hydraulic brakes?

Edit: After looking around, I guess you can. I was under the incorrect assumptions that all new electronic systems were for hydraulic brakes.

You can, very easily - I just did it! SRAM red 11 speed etap is great and available on ebay. The front derailleur is the expensive component because they fail with some regularity but the rest of the components are easy to find. Rim brake shifters are out there and not too crazy expensive. The upgrade from Force 10 speed to Red Etap 11 speed is great!

Thanks, I just noticed that. I was under the impression that the new groups were hydraulic only.

I could not get the di2 wire through the tube at the bottom so I took a derailleur cable, taped the di2 to the head of the cable and fed the cable through first. I was able to pull it through that way and then run it along the bottom of the chainstay and taped it to the stay.
There is a picture of the right side of the bike in this thread.

2nd page. Others have drilled into the top tube, but I did not want to go quite that far.
