Electrolyte drinks? GU Brew?

Anyone try the new GU brew yet? I have used Cytomax in the past and it works ok, better than anything else I have used but I want something that will kick me in the ass and give me energy fast. GU gels work the best for me so I wonder if the new drink will… and has anyone ever tried orange juice or apple juice as an electrolyte drink? it has the calories, sugar, and carbs…

Tried Coke? (The kind you drink…not the kind you…well, you know.)

Diluting OJ or apple juice with water, then adding some salt, does make a decent electrolyte drink.

On a more serious note, I use the new GU Brew (used to be GU20, but a little different), and I like it as a standard electrolyte replacement. It tastes good without being too strong, it keeps me hydrated, double sodium is nice for the hot n sweaty days. It doesn’t give me a sudden “boost” like I think you’re looking for, although I have tried mixing it with Red Bull and have had some success…

You can do juices with an electrolyte tablet, but I would try to steer clear of acidic drinks such as Cranberry, grapefruit, or orange. The acidity has a tendency to work on peoples colons on longer runs.

Growing up this was my sports drink of choice. It doesn’t taste that good but it works very well.
