Elbow width

I have my elbows at 20cm. I’m thinking about going to 14cm. Any thoughts from anyone whos been in the tunnel.

Have not been in the tunnel, but alot of it will have to do with how wide your hips and legs are. The arms help shield the legs to a certain extent. If you have really wide hips and legs it does not make sense to go very narrow. Also you should never compromise your breathing or digestion for aerodynamics. You will pay the price. In general though assuming that you do not create a new negative, narrow is more aero.

I had to bring my pads in after seeing pics from my last race. Fortunatley I can still hold my postion as long as I want.

how wide are your pads now.

Pretty close but my hips are not wide. I can’t tell you know because I leave my bike at work and I can not measure right now.

“I have my elbows at 20cm. I’m thinking about going to 14cm”

Not a good question. Depends on your physical size, shoulder width, etc. Are you 5’6" and 120 lbs or 6’6" and 220 lbs. Get my drift?

Getting too narrow can actually hurt your performance by constricting your breathing. Cobb always talked about maximum aero advantage being when your elbows covered your knees in the frontal plane.
