Eganski vs Itzeasy St. Croix Smackdown....let it rip (Island Pics included)

OK, so the heavyweights have been training in stealth now for many months, but unlike 100m sprinters or Championship boxers, these 2 heavyweights of ST have been very silent in the leadup to St. Croix…have they arrived and melted in the island heat, or are they saving their energy going into the super taper by not even typing. Or did they get eaten by sharks in these waters?

Guys, we need pictures from the island. If you have a chance you need to take a trip out to Point Udall, the easternmost point in the United States.

I’m stuck in O’Hare on my way to Wildflower, but I am already missing the island…already planning a trip back with a whole crew of Canuck posers next spring

Race?

Dev, looks like a nice place to sit under a palm tree with cold beer or a Mai Tai. Who would want to mess things up with doing a race in a place like that.

Fleck, you should make the trip with Ms. P next year and be “team manager”…and no one is saying that racing and your suggested activities cannot go hand in hand

Put me down for $20 on eganski.

I have family members that live there and visit quite often, i have some pics jsut have to find them.

Are we taking bets? My money is on Ian…for no other reason than to apply some pressure on him

I’ll right you jokers, we both made it as did our bikes which we were very happy about.
I’m online at the Hotel on the Cay but will not be sitting in front of the computer (hello…I’m in St. Croix) much so you guys carry-on!
Went for S/B/R today, it’s gonna be a tough one Sunday but both Eganski and I are ready. He and I are actually much better smack-talkers over the internet, it was a friendly meeting he’s a good dude, looking forward to post-race drinks!
Ian

Make sure Eganski is nowhere near your bike in transition. He can play dirty, and he has a few tricks up his sleeve.

I melted a little today. And I was told that whatever patch-up work they usually do on the roads, they haven’t done this year. The roads are brutal.

I may need to be carried off this course. But it should be fun! Seeing the studs I usually only see in Triathlete Magazine has been a highlight…

BottomFeeder-you may want to hedge that bet. I’ll try to take some pictures for later.

Dev, put another 20 down on Eganski for me. I like his reverse smack talk. If he goes on like this, Itseazy is in trouble fo’sho’.

Hey listen, if on race morning you feel a little flat or if Itseazy looks thinner than ever, don’t panic. Just switch to Plan B like we had talked about.

Remember there’s no dishonor in unconventional warfare, but there’s a ton of dishonor in losing. And the ends justify the means. Yeah!

Man, this is going to be a great weekend to follow the races. St. Croix, Wildflower, and the very first One-o-One race. I gotta make it down for St. Croix sometime, but gotta find some funds first.

Good luck at WF.

good luck with the race, oh watt monster. and remember what they say about the swim: its not what time you get out of the water, its what time the water takes out of you.
got the powertap on so we can checkout your wattage figures post-race?

i rode the beast today for the first time. we drove the whole bike course yesterday, only thing i can say is that this is the single toughest course i have ever seen. (yes, i’m a 2nd year BOP’er) so that may not mean shit. Only strategy I can come up with is attempt to survive the bike without becoming a milk shake (roads resemble lunar surface) and then take the first run loop easy as shit in order to not completely melt in this heat.

the swim sure is fun tho, but i keep stopping to look at the cool fishies. i promise i’ll post a full RR at the end of this bad boy.

Prediction: 6:45

uh oh… You’re going to do plenty of walking already, DO NOT walk The Beast!

I will have the watt-o-meter but the numbers are gonna be about 5-10 watts less than ‘itseazy’ will put out.

BottomFeeder, i’m way ahead of you. Ian may experience some serious ‘slippage’ due to road conditions and less than optimal torque on his seatpost and aerobars.

Go Moosenugget!

Ian-

My money is on you bro !!!

Have fun.
