Tagline says it all. Out on a ride this morning when a cuts straight in front of me when I was doing 37km/h (23 mph). God bless Dura Ace brakes, I managed to avoid running into the passenger side door, but instead went straight over the bars and face planted on some soft, forgiving bitumen.
The bike is ok.
Can anyone give me any tips for food while I wait for this thing to heal? I struggle to keep weight on at the best of times, and don’t really want to loose any more than is necessary.
Shitty. Get yourself a nice blender and start blending the crap out of everything. If you can eat it normally, you can blend it. Good luck!
Is your jaw wired shut? If yes, you need a vitamix and a juicer.
I had my jaw broken a few years ago. Are you wired shut? Or did you get a plate put in?
I was wired for 10-12 weeks (I don’t remember the exact amount). I took in a lot of calories in the form of ensure (or ensure equivalents). People will tell you to put things in the blender, but if you’re wired, getting little chunks out of your teeth is really difficult, and I didn’t like the inability to get the taste of a meal out of my mouth, so I quit trying that relatively quickly. Also, I didn’t really want to be cleaning a blender each time I took in calories, and I needed something that was easy on my stomach, because nausea could be disastrous when you’re wired, particularly with chunkier foods.
You’re probably going to lose some weight. I reduced my training volume and was taking in 3000+ calories per day (at least 10 ensure shakes), and I still lost a lot of weight. Your mouth probably feels horrible right now, and it feels like the archbars they’ve installed will never allow you to feel comfortable, but that feeling went away for me in about a week.
