East Fork Tri in OHIO

Anyone familiar with this race? I am from Philly and mostly do races only in pa, de, nj. I want to do a race that weekend (July 17) and may be travelling to visit family-in-law-to-be and it would coincide nicely. Any thoughts on this race would be appreciated…what’s the field like in that part of the country? thanks

i’m losing my thread
.

I did it in 2003 when it was a sprint distance. East Fork is a state park in a rural area about 45 minutes outside downtown Cincinnati. Nice park, in fact I think its one of the prettiest parks in which HFP holds their races. It’s part of their annual race series and they now offer an international in addition to a sprint.

I am not sure what you mean by “what’s the field like in that part of the country?” But midwesterners are generally known for our easy sense of humor, good looks and slightly-above-average intelligence.

 quad…

Yeah, we easterners are generally known for our inhospitable demeanor, bad teeth and ability to cook a greasy cheesesteak…

I guess I meant what does it take to get on the age group podium (25-29) in that race? Not that I would come close…

so i guess you’d recommend the race, huh?

I recently did Sylvania race in Ohio. The race was suppose to be put on by HFP but when I get there 3D was in charge. The swim and bike was okay but the run was woefully understaffed. Some of the aid stations only had 1 volunteer.(can you say self serve)If you a traveling a distance you might want to make sure HFP is still doing the race.

I would look for the East Fork race to be similar to this one, maybe a few more people given its proximity to Cincinatti. http://www.hfpracing.com/results/2005/2005_DC_INTL_TRI_AG_REV2.HTM

I never saw anything during the spring that would have led me to believe that HFP was putting on the race at Sylvania. But then I have been wrong in the past.

Expect a relatively well put on race with no draft marshals to be found.
