E-gel, Hammer Gel or Envervitene for Ironman?
E-Gel.
I agree with Tom. e-gel all the way
E-Gels and E-Caps…good stuff, its our crack!
I like egel for the simplicity. Lately I have been using Perpetuem mixed with powerade instead of water. Fuel, Electrolytes and a better taste all in one. I have had the best results with this mix.
Why mess with all that stuff when you can get everything in one customized drink mix? Check out www.infinitnutrition.com

This looks very cool. However, I barely feel qualified enough to buy the P3 Carbon I’m picking up this week…let alone for me to get a “designer” drink. I figure my body isn’t that much different than the norm…
It is basically the same price as most drinks. Factor in that you are buying gels, salt tabs, etc… and it is less expensive. Trust me, you won’t go wrong with infinit. If you don’t like it, they’ll give you a refund.

It sound/looks really cool. I just don’t think my body is that different than 99% of folks out there…I figure I’d rather leave the complicated scientific stuff to the experts…again though, maybe I’m wrong.
The problem with e-gel for me is the serving size - at 55g it’s just more than I can stomach in most instances. It packs a lot, for sure, but this is useful only if one can consume the entire serving; I just can’t do it. It would work is I broke open the individual packages and put them in a flask, but I’ve never enjoyed using flasks.
Lava Gel works best for me - 34g, great taste, 75mg sodium and 30mg potassium. Enervitene cola flavor is outstanding, the serving size is right (25ml), but sodium is only 56mg, potassium 18mg. I can also stomach Hammer Gel, but there is no potassium and only 27mg; Endurolytes and H.E.E.D. are needed to “top of” the electrolytes.
I used a bottle of e-fuel at IMLP last year, and that worked well. I’d go with it again at my next iron-distance race.
The E-gel’s I’ve used have been 150kcal, which is about 37-38g I think. Those things are awesome for long rides.
