E-Bay mystery:

In the strange wrangling that is things on E-Bay our Saber frame is only at $179 brand new while a Cannondale IM800 frame is over twice that and a Cervelo Soloist frame is already almost 4 times the price. Weird.

I can’t beleive the Mavic wheels are leading the wheel price bidding war.

Bids don’t get near the real numbers until the final few hours.

Could have something to do with the mentality of the bidders. Smart bidders will wait til the last minute to bid, thus avoid driving the price up in a bidding war. A smart ebayer knows the max he’ll pay for an item and bids that at the last moment thus avoiding the “war”.

Who buys your Sabre frame: a well inform inteligent person? A knowlegdeable buyer? I don’t wish to tee off any Cannondale owners as they are great bikes and I’ve had 2 myself, but the Sabre appears to be more high end. So the buyer knows he has to spend more $$$$ and wishes to avoid the “war”. He’ll bid at the last moment? Then again I’ve seen many “used” items go for MORE then retail.

Just my slant on the whole eBay thingy.

Might have something to do with the frame size. I bid on the Cannondale frame as it is the frame that fits and I am looking for a frame to throw some parts on and ride to work. I have all the parts sans frame. I will have to look at the Saber frame but I think it was not the correct size.

I’m curious. According all the mind numbing threads on this board about bike fit I’m supposed to buy the bike that best fits me. Not the one with the best price, great looks, or superior marketing. I might crash or worse get publically humiliated on this board if I have a bad bike fit.

However I’m looking at all these sexy frames you have for sale and as much as I’d like to buy any one of them I have no clue that they will fit me. Not sure how anyone would know. 51 Guru, 52 Cannondale, 53 Saber, 54 soloist. They would each fit me different or maybe even not at all.

Again I’m just curious, seems like eBay is the wrong place to buy a bike frame or bike. Too many variables.
