During Massage: naked or undies?

some of the therapist out there…which do you prefer? I assume undies is easier since you don’t have to mess with the extra sheet?

Running shorts with the built in liner.

Getting a therapeutic massage is usually in the nude based upon my experience as it makes it easier for the therapist. They are often using massage oils and don’t want to get it on your undies. They are professionals they will cover you with sheets on the areas they aren’t working on and preserve your modesty.

nekkid
.

I know some people want to know, how about getting a little woodrow? I mean, sometimes you just can’t help it.

Once again, it’s good to be a girl. No visual “give away.”

BooOIIIooOOIIiiiOOooiiiiIIng!

That’s why I avoid the post race massage tables. My little soldier is always ready to stand at attention.

SALUTE!

I prefer that my clients fully undress, as it facilitates my ability to give a more complete and flowing massage. That said, I don’t want anyone to undress past their comfort/modesty level, as they will most likely be tense for the entire session. I have found that when it comes to women, most women under the age of 35 (or so) will leave their underwear on and women 35 (or so) up dispense with that last vestige of clothing. Most men leave their skivvies on (not counting the traveling businessman who came in for a “relaxing” massage). Then there are thongs…they are so close to nothing that I sometimes don’t realize that the client has them on. So far, in my practice, only women have gone the thong route, though I would imagine in a more metrosexual enviroment you would encounter the “male” of the species wearing them. Not that there is anything wrong with that!

Now if I am performing sports massage or myofascial spreading I prefer the client to wear shorts. Women add a sports bra or boob tube.

Sorry to burst you guy’s fantasies but don’t expect Pamela Anderson to be giving you a massage on your privates.

I’m a chiro that has shared space with massage therapists, both male and female on different occassions. Only once in all those years did a client ever make an inappropriate gesture, in this case to a female therapist. She walked out of the room and then I walked in and told him to leave immediately. He did and never came back.

It’s too bad that massage therapists still suffer from a “body rub” image in some geographical areas.

Oh, really?

Hi beams or low?

Who expects a massage of their privates and who made disprespectful remarks towards massage therapists?

Please either read the post you are responding to or respond to the proper post.

Thanks for lecture anyway, tough guy.

I was cold. REALLY.

That’s the way it was in our clinics. Sports massages are generally centered on one specific area, a pulled hamstring would be a typical example, and would generally last about twenty minutes or so. Therapeutic massages were often full body but often concentrated more on one area such as a low back or neck/shoulders, etc. but would last 30-60 minutes. People wanting “relaxation massages” were booked for an hour.

One of the guys I worked with had been a massage therapist for the early days of the WWF and had worked on a number of the big name pro wrestlers. One of his clients was Andre the Giant. Andre was so big that he had to be booked for two hours. Sometimes the massage therapist tag teamed the two hours with another therapist because Andre was so much work.

So is that it? Did he look like this?

…do we know if Monk ever did find a new massage therapist?

Hey!

I believe it’s TOTALLY up to the client. It’s not about me.

I always tell my clients “Whatever makes you most comfortable. You will be covered at all times, and the only body part exposed will be the part I am working on. I can definitely work around underwear”.

I just tuck the sheet under edge of undies, so lubricant doesn’y get on clothing.

Some dudes are so nervous that they leave on their boxers. That kind of limits access to the entire leg, but I don’t say anything - because obvioulsy they don’t wanna be nekkid.

First Timers usually leave skivvies on.

Once in a while when I tell a dude to turn, he takes his time, I guess that’s because of, uh, you know. But, more often people just fall asleep.

Hey man, I wasn’t saying anyone who has given me a massage would be remotely interested in me. It’s sort of like asking a girl if they notice when guys get boners when they dance with them (not that it has happened to me of course).

Always nekkid. Sorry. If my RMT won’t massage me while I’m in the buff, then screw it, I’ll find a new one.

Yeah, like Dallas…the Gentlemen’s Entertainment Capital of the World! :frowning: Where registered massage therapists are required to have a whopping 300 hours of training.

I took a job in a place that billed itself as a therapuetic massage studio…checked it out well and the owner was even certified to teach CEU’s. I lasted 2 days. 3 out of 5 clients made inappropriate remarks or behaved badly…coincidence? I think not.

I am not easliy shocked, but this was enough to make me reconsider ever working in an environment where I do not control who I put my hands on. I haven’t given a massage since.

I worked on 100’s of clients, both in clinic and privately, while in school and never had anyone make me feel like they wanted or expected more than a great sports massage…and, yes, I prefer my clients to undress fully…but this was a demeaning and humiliating experience.

Welcome to Texas!

Naked. Give the therapist room to work. They’re professionals. It may seem a bit intimate to you…but remember…you aren’t the first person to climb on their table. Its about as personal to them as you feel when sitting down to a new computer, or taking the next person in the bank-teller line, or laying another line of bricks, or opening a new box of mortar rounds, or greeting the next woman pulling into the new car lot…whatever it is you do…

That said, if YOU can’t relax being naked, you are defeating the purpose of the massage so in that case it’s probably better with underwear.

As a LMT I prefer my clients to be completely undressed. It is better for me and them in terms of continuity of movemennt especially in areas such as the hip. A bra with straps over the shoulder, even unsnapped, is cumbersome and gets in the way. It is just my personal feeling that anytime I touch someones underwear/panties that the connection is lost and it is an awkward moment the interupts the flow of the massage. Also the oil/cream used stains the clients clothing which i have received complaints about.

That being said, it should always be the clients comfort level that determines the amount/type of clothing worn on the table. If the client is not comfortable the massage will not be theraputic.
