Dura Ace R9150 Di2 Remote Shifters

Can anyone confirm the use of these independent of STI shifters, e.g. using a B junction or lengthening them and running them to the 5 port?

Considering them as an alternative setup with hydraulic brakes on basebar.

TIA.

The e-tube project compatibility chart is my go to reference for Di2 component info: http://e-tubeproject.shimano.com/pdf/en/HM-CC.3.2.0-01-EN.pdf

It shows the new satellite shifters can plug into any Di2 port. See the sprint shifters for how they indicate the need for STI port use.

Thanks for the link, looks like an engineer got a marketing job!

I have found that sometimes these releases are not reflective of the reality as they could be driven by reasons beyond technical feasibility, therefore was hoping to see if someone has tried it.

I have them as they are designed to be used…climbing shifters on my bars, plugged into the spare di2 slots on the Ultegra shifters.

Yes, they work, one moves the rear derailleur up, other down. I don’t know why the wouldn’t work plugged into a 5 port. The Di2 project is how you program or map the buttons. You could also look into the sprinter buttons, though I have no person history with them.

One thing to be aware of is the firmware will have to match all di2 pieces, which for some might negate the use of newer di2 tech if you have a home-brew franken-ace di2 setup.

I’m planning to use them on the base bars rather than the dedicated di2 brake leavers.

I’m currently using a 3-port A junction but plan to use a 4-port b junction to connect the climbing switches (one by each brake leaver) to the 3-port and to the rest of the system. I’ll then just use synchro-shift with one-button shifting on the bull horns.

I’ve researched it and understand that this should work, unlike the sprint shifters the new climbing switch (and the old one for that matter) can be programmed to do whatever you want

I use them both as shifters at the brake levers and as shifters on the end of my extensions. Works fine plugging them directly into the junction box.

As an aside, I believe Shimano is now making a small 2-port junction you can use to extend the wire - you might have trouble getting the wire on them to reach the junction box.

Thanks, this is my plan as well. I have a couple of b junction I can use to extend as well, but if they are making a connector now that would be better.

Would it possible for you to post a pic of your setup if you don’t mind! I’d love to check it out

Snapped a few quick pictures.
