I have a rim brake road bike with dura ace di2 11 speed. I’m considering building up a fun/gravel bike with my current parts but with disc brakes. Wouldn’t I just need the disc version of di2 shifters and obviously disc calipers? Keeping all the wiring/junction boxes/derailleurs etc?
Sounds like that’ll work out. The Shimano E-Tube compatibility chart is your friend to confirm.

You don’t even need the 9170 shifters. Just buy cable actuated disc brakes, and you can use your 9150 shifters

And save yourself hundreds of dollars to boot.

You can even buy the TRP HY/RD calipers, which are cable operated, but have hydraulic pistons and thus (almost) all the benefits of a hydraulic system.
