DT Swiss wheels

Hi there,

I’m looking into buying my first raceday wheelset. I’m having the opportunity to buy a barely used DT Swiss RC55 clincher set for 900 euro but can’t seem to find any reviews or tests.

If i look at the specs it ticks most boxes for my use:
-55-60mm because i’m lightweight and ride in windy conditions alot
-lighweight ±1500grams because i race hilly races
-clincher

Anyone experienced with these wheels or dt swiss in general? Quality, aerodynamics, …
Other suggestions for wheelsets are certainly welcome (can’t buy flo in europe).

The “Euro-FLO” is called SwissSide. You’re welcome.

DT Swiss are excellent, quality-wise. From MTB to road, spokes and hubs - all top stuff.

If you are in the hills and braking is an issue get either Zipp or Campag wheels.
There are no other wheels on the market that can match them for heat stability if you want carbon rims.
Plenty of secondhand around at the price you are looking at.

Just pick up a set of Swiss Side Hadron 625s - the ones with an aluminum brake surface. They weigh just over 1600 g. For more money you can get full carbon Hadrons which will save a tiny bit of weight but you lose the aluminum brake surface.

I find it slightly concerning that DT Swiss specifically warns against heat damage from car exhaust for this wheel set. I realize that DT Swiss makes the same warning for all their carbon wheels but some of the heat build-up tests I have seen on carbon clinchers suggest that you can build-up a lot of heat on the rim. I am not sure the assumptions DT Swiss are making about the temperature of exhaust and the heat dissipation rate given a moving vehicle, but I wouldn’t think the heat stress risk of cars to wheels is very high.
