Dry mouth when swimming

I’m new to the sport and been hitting the pool frequently and getting dry mouth when I have been doing laps. Anyone else have this problem? Any solutions? It reminds me of the stories of shipwrecked guys on a lifeboat … . . Water as far as the eye can see without a drop to drink.

I’ve never really had this problem myself but dry mouth is why a lot of swimmers take a water bottle to the pool, even if they’re swimming in a 78* pool and hence they will sweat very little, but they use the water to relieve their dry mouth.

For me water helps a bit but what works most effectively is gatorade. Using gatorade makes me feel A LOT better. Try a sports drink.

It could also be the PH of the pool chemistry is off.

This wouldn’t surprise me since it is a park district pool.

I will take a bottle of gatorade and see if that helps.

^^^This. The chemicals are off. I get it too from time to time when I’m swimming in a loosely maintained pool.
