I am a newbie to triathlons and this form so be gentle. During continuous swims longer than 500 meters my mouth gets very dry. I was wondering if there was a good solution to this problem short of taking in the pool water and pretending nobody relieved themselves in the pool. I have my first sprint race in a couple of weeks and the thought of taking in Texas lake water is not appealing. How do the HIM and IM distance people handle this problem?
Take it in but just don’t swallow.
If you aren’t getting some water in your mouth you aren’t breathing right.
