Anyone out there know the best route to take from the Dallas-Ft. Worth area to Branson, MO?
I-30 to Little Rock will give you a better average speed and more decent places to stop to eat, get coffee etc. I am close to Central Expressway, though, so I take US 75/69 up to I 40 in Eufala, loop 540 in Ft Smith, Ar to Fayetteville. It gets kind of complicated from there as you snake through Fayetteville, but basically US 412 to US 65 which then changes names a couple of times before you get to Branson. More small towns with traffic lights on this route, but it takes off something around 100 miles from the trip. My son will be taking this route in reverse tomorrow. Wish I could take off from work and school for the race. I heard good things about the race from last year; unless you hate hills, in which case good luck!
It depends if you want interstate the whole way or not. “Easiest” way is probably just to do I-35 north to I-44 once you hit Oklahoma City. That will put you a bit north of Branson for a ways, but you can then take the highway down just south of Springfield, MO. The other route is probably just to take US 75 north to US 69 until you hit I-40 eastbound. You can then cut up a bit on I-540 north until you hit Fayetteville I think it is and then cut through the boonies east and then north. Not sure on those roads, but I think that would be the fastest. Might be quite a bit more scenic this way and possibly 15-30 minutes faster?
It depends too though on where your hotel is. Either way you’re probably looking at an 8 hour drive or so. Hope this helps! Get ready to ride some fun (or not so fun I guess) hills in Branson!
If you are going to take I-35 to I-44 in OKC, you might as well just take 75 all the way to Tulsa and then hit I-44, it is about 30min-1hr faster than cutting through OKC. Plus OKC sucks and Tulsa Rules.
Note: I am currently living in Tulsa.

Agreed, OKC can be a headache at times…
