Drivetrain swap compatability

I’d like to take my Ultegra front and rear derailleur off of my '13 Felt B16 and put them on my '05 Giant TCR road bike. (upgrade from 105)
I’d like to get DA 7900 front and rear derailleur for the Felt. Will the 7900 front derailleur work with the stock Felt MicroShift shifters ?
Would it also be best to use a DA 7901 chain? I have Ultegra cassettes and stock FSA Omega crank. Thanks!

If everything is 10 speed , you’ll have no problem with the switch unless one FD is clamp on and the other is braze on. You won’t find much difference on the road though, other than a small reduction in weight.

Is your goal to upgrade the Giant or the Felt?

I doubt you notice anything going from 2013 Ultegra to new 7900 DA on the Felt.

If the equipment on your Giant is from 2005, then you will probably notice an upgrade there, but I would think you’d need to upgrade the shifters, too. If it’s “new” 105, probably won’t notice much there, either.

For the cost of a new DA FD and RD, you could probably outfit your roadie w/ current generation Ultegra, shifters and a derailleurs, out of the classifieds.

The main goal was to upgrade the Giant from 105, including the shifters, and figured smoother shifting with a bit less weight with the DA on the Felt.
The reason I asked about the compatability with the Micro Shifters was because I read this on ArtsCyclery about the product description… “The 7900 front derailleur is only compatible with the 7900 shifters.”

My understanding is Shimano 10sp is compatible across 105, Ultegra, and DA 10sp mechanical platforms.

I thought the same but then read that on Artscyclery. I wasn’t sure if I was missing something. I guess it will be fine. Thanks
